Polydicyclopentadiene(PDCPD),acquired by the Ring-opening metathesis polymerization(ROMP)of dicyclopentadiene(DCPD),is a new type of thermosetting plastics featuring high impact strength,high elastic modulus and high mechanical strength etc.PDCPD has been becoming the focus in the polymer field.DCPD has many advantages in the process of ROMP.On the one hand,the reactant has features including low viscosity and fast polymerization.And also,the molds don't have to stand high temperature and pressure and injection equipment can be easily made.All the advantages described above contribute to low cost in mass production.On the other hand,DCPD,with high activity,can be easily copolymerized with other monomers,so different monomers and additives(or the mixture of monomers and additives according to different proportion)can be used to copolymerize with DCPD to generate a series of PDCPD compounds with different features,which can expand the application of PDCPD in various fields.With the catalytic system of ROMP,the paper studies the copolymerization of DCPD with pinene and ENB respectively,using WCl6 as main catalysts and Et2 AlCl as sub-catalyst.The reactant ratio and process conditions were determined.With FT-IR,scanning electron microscopy and TG,the structure and performance of the copolymer have been characterized,and the mechanical properties of the copolymer was tested.From the analysis of the quality change of solvent with PDCPD and without and the analysis of FT-IR spectrum characteristic absorption peak change,the paper shows that the product of PDCPD's copolymerization with two kinds of monomer respectively are copolymers,not blends.According to related copolymerization reaction parameters,using industrial reaction injection molding machine,we get copolymers PDCPD-?p and PDCPD-ENB.By testing the mechanical properties of composites,The paper studies how the dosage of pinene and ENB has effect on the properties of compound mechanics.The tensile and impact performance test results show that when the proportion of ?-pinene is 3%,the mechanics performance of copolymer DCPD-Pinene is best.The impact performance is 31.46 KJ/m2,which is 129.6% greater than that of pure DCPD and the tensile properties is 52.5 Mpa,which is 33.28% higher than that of pure DCPD.When the proportion of ENB is 10%,the tensile strength and the impact strength increase a little,but not obvious,which shows that ENB only has the effect of depressing pour point on DCPD.
