In the context of increasing international competition, industrial agglomeration has become an important driving force of modern economic development, and a universal economic phenomenon in the worldwide.Industrial agglomeration not only drives the rapid development of economy of the local gathering area, but also has brought more serious environmental problems to the gathering area.In 2016,aiming at achieving economic development and environmental protection coordination,China put strengthening the construction of ecological civilization into the five-year plan for the first time.Reducing the intensity of pollution emission is an effective way to solve the environmental deterioration and realize the coordinated development of economy and environment.Based on the theory of industrial agglomeration externality and environmental Kuznets curve, this paper uses the improved STIRPAT model and the industrial data of Guangdong Province from 2005 to 2015 to discuss the effect of industrial agglomeration on the intensity of pollution emission. This paper first introduces the theoretical background, theoretical foundation and domestic and foreign research status. And then this paper theoretically explores the impact of industrial agglomeration on pollution emissions.Following the paper analyzes the industrial status of Guangdong Province from the total quantity, trend and structure, and uses the location entropy method to calculate the industrial agglomeration degree of all the cities in Guangdong province. And the industrial agglomeration trend index is used to dynamically observe the industrial.Next, this paper analyzes the Pollution Status in Guangdong Province from Pollutant Discharge in Guangdong Province and Pollutant Emission Intensity in Four Areas, and uses the entropy method to measure the comprehensive index of pollution intensity in Guangdong Province. Finally, based on the improved STIRPAT model, the effect of industrial agglomeration on the intensity of pollution emission in Guangdong Province was studied. The panel data of Guangdong Province and the four regional industries from 2005 to 2015 were used for empirical analysis respectively.Based on the empirical study on industrial agglomeration and pollution intensity in Guangdong Province, the results show that there is no inverted U-shaped curve of similar environmental Kuznets between industrial agglomeration and pollution intensity in Guangdong Province.Industrial agglomeration has a positive effect on reducing pollution emissions.Industrial agglomeration can effectively reduce the intensity of pollution emissions. From the four regions of Guangdong province, the impact of industrial agglomeration on the intensity of pollution emissions is heterogeneous. The industrial agglomeration in the Pearl River Delta and the mountainous areas reduces the intensity of regional pollution emissions, while the industrial agglomeration of the western wing increases the intensity of regional pollution emissions. |
