The bending performance of the fabrics is an important mechanical property of the fabric.It affects the comfort,drape and wrinkle recovery of the fabric.It is also a major factor in determining the softness of the fabric and the surface shape of the garment.To some extent,it determines the application of the fabric,has a great impact for the comfort and appearance of clothing.So far,the traditional fabric bending performance tests rely mainly on manual operation and visual inspection.With the rapid development of machine vision,pattern recognition technology and image analysis technology,industrial automation detection is an inevitable trend instead of manual operation.Based on the existing theoretical researches and testing methods of bending performance,we adopt an automatic sample conveying device,an image acquisition device and OpenCV image processing technology to design a non-contact automatic detection device to testing the bending performance of fabrics instead of manual detection,which can obtain the information of fabric bending shape in real time,fit a curve according to the curved form(image),then calculate the index of the bending performance of the fabric.We test the reproducibility of the system,find that the CV value of the test results are all less than 2%,indicate that the reproducibility of the detection system is very good.The bending properties of 30 different specimens were tested by this method and the inclined method.This paper conducts the correlation analysis of the bending lengths,finds the correlation coefficient square of the two methods is 0.969,which is a highly positive correlation,indicates the results of the two methods are alternative.Then,we conduct the correlation analysis of the bending rigidity,find the correlation coefficient square of the two methods is 0.989,which is also a highly positive correlation,indicates this paper’s method is valid,which can effectively measure the bending performance of the fabric instead of the slope method.Comparing the coefficient of variation of the bending lengthof the two methods,it is found that the coefficient of variation of this paper’s method is generally smaller than the inclined method,which proves that this paper’s method is more stable than the inclined method.Finally,testing the bending properties of 20 kinds of silks using the two methods,it is known that the correlation coefficient square of the bending lengths is 0.917,the correlation coefficient square of the bending rigidity is 0.924,which are all highly positive correlation,it is indicated that this paper’s method has the advantages of high consistency with the inclined method in measuring the bending performance of the silks,which further proves that this paper’s method is effective.
