Acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene(ABS)series resins has been widely used because of their ability to produce products with good toughness, easy processing, good dimensional stability, good chemical resistance, unique coloring effect, high thermal performance and flame retardant. At present, the preparation methods of ABS mainly include emulsion polymerization and bulk polymerization.Compared with those two,the emulsion polymerization process is complicated and the pollution is large. On the other hand, the bulk process is simple, the process is short,no emulsifiers are used,no sewage is discharged, and friendly to the environment. In recent years, the most popular method of manufacturing ABS has been the continuous body method.A major feature of this manufacturing process is the ability to obtain greater toughening results at lower rubber contents. However, the rubber content must be kept in an appropriate range. If the rubber content is too high, the viscosity of the system will be too high and the processing is difficult. In this dissertation, the synthesis process of bulk ABS was studied.According to the change of the viscosity of the reaction system during the synthesis of the bulk process, the effect of different types of rubber on the viscosity of the reaction system was studied. The effects of different rubber types and contents on the viscosity of bulk ABS rubber homogeneous solution system and the basic physical properties of synthetic ABS materials were investigated. The study shows that the viscosity of the reaction system is idealand the synthesized ABS has excellent comprehensive performancewhen the solid content is 80%,the gel content is 12%,and the SSBR/ LCBR=2/1.Further,in order to obtain matt materials that meet the performance requirements of automotive interior parts,ABS resins of different particle sizes were synthesized by the above-mentioned bulk method, and PC/ABS alloys suitable for automotive interior applications were developed, and different particle size was examined. The influence of ABS content in ABS resin and alloy on the basic mechanical properties, fluidity and extinction degree of PC/ABS alloy. The results show that the extinction degree of the alloy increases with the increase of the rubber particle size in the bulk ABS,but the excessive rubber particle size leads to the lack of material flow properties and the decrease of the processing performance. When the rubber particle size is about 800-900 nm and the content of ABS in the alloy is 25%,the extinction degree of the alloy is moderate, and the comprehensive mechanical properties can meet the requirements of use. Finally, considering the residual double bonds in ABS will affect the weatherability and performance of the alloy.A special styrene series toughening resin ASA(polyacrylonitrile-styrene-acrylic ester)excellent in weatherability was prepared.Since the ASA resin does not contain residual double bonds, its stress cracking resistance and weathering resistance are excellent.Developed PC/ASA al oy resin with excel ent weatherability.
