This reserch was provinced by the natural science foundation of Heilongjiang.The fundation name is"lignin composite interface of the relationship between parameters and mechanical properties of quantitative research?number:C2015056?".Alkali lignin can be prepared to the composite materials with polyvinyl alcohol?PVA?and ABS by simple mechanical blending,although they can be combined by intermolecular forces,the interfacial compatibility is good,but there is still obvious phase separation phenomenon.Study on compatibility of the composite interface,usually from the chemical characterization,thermal properties and mechanical properties analysis of two component interactions,or by swelling method to qualitative analysis of two component interactions,lacking of quantitative characterization and there are few studies on the quantitative representation of the interactions between the two components and the relationship with their properties.Firstly,in this paper,the solubility parameters of alkali lignin were determined by inverse gas chromatography?IGC?and swelling method,quantitative and semi-quantitative methods were used to characterize the solubility of alkali lignin.In the same time,IGC technology was used to characterize the solubility parameters and related thermal properties of alkali lignin/PVA and alkali lignin/ABS and the relationship between solubility parameters and thermodynamic properties of composites was obtained.The results are as follows:The solubility parameters of alkali lignin and polyvinyl alcohol at room temperature?25??were 20.68?J/cm3?0.5 and 27.77?J/cm3?0.5 by using semi-quantitative swelling method,The solubility parameters were 20.09?J/cm3?0.5,27.69?J/cm3?0.5 of the above two kinds were determined by using the quantitative IGC technique,the two methods are consistent in the determination of solubility parameters.This paper is based on the category of probe solvents,twenty solvents were applied as test probes including some aliphatic?n-hexane?n-heptane?n-octane?n-nonane?n-decane?cyclopentane?cyclohexane?,aromatic hydrocarbons?benzene?methylbenzene?,alcohols?methanol?ethano?1-propanol?isopropanol?,ketones?acetone?methyl ethyl ketone?methyl isobutyl ketone?,halohydrocarbons?dichloromethane?trichlormethane trichloroethylene?and tetrahydrofuran.Some thermodynamic parameters were obtained by IGC data analysis such as the retention volumes of the solvents?Vg0?,the activity coefficients at infinite dilution??1??,and Flow-Huggins interaction parameters(??12)between composite materials and probe solvents.The result showed that the Vg0 decreased with the increase of temperature of the test probes?except the alcohols?;tetrahydrofuran,benzene,alcohols,ketones and halohydrocarbons had a good trend of solving alkali lignin;the solving ability of the above five families of solvents for PVA decreased in the following sequence: ketones>alcohols>?halohydrocarbon,aromatic hydrocarbons,aliphatic?>alicyclic.Halohydrocarbon,aromatic hydrocarbons,aliphatic these three families of solvents have similar solving ability.In alkali lignin-PVA polar system,alkali lignin/PVA composite membrane was prepared by adding 10%,15%,20%,and 25%alkali lignin to the composites,the thermodynamic parameters of composites were measured by IGC technique,the result showed that with the alkali lignin content increased the values of Vg0 and??12 change linearly.The solubility parameters of blends with different alkali lignin contents were 17.51,18.70,16.64 and 16.38?J/cm3?0.5,with the increase of alkali lignin content,the solubility parameter increased first and then decreased,when the content of alkali lignin was 15%,the solubility parameters of composites were the highest.The tensile strength of alkali lignin/PVA composite membrane was 15%at 18.86MPa,which was the highest in all alkali lignin content.The relationship between the tensile strength of alkali lignin/PVA composite film and the solubility parameter??2?satisfies the relations:Y=19.661-0.704X+0.0363X2,the linear correlation coefficient was 0.9995,?X is the solubility parameter,Y is the tensile strength?.The correlation coefficient shows that the solubility parameter of the composite is related to the tensile strength of the composite film.The hydrophilic contact angle of alkali lignin/PVA composite membrane was 89°at the content of15%,and was also the maximum value of all alkali lignin content.The relationship between the tensile strength of alkali lignin/PVA composite film and the static contact angle satisfies the relations:Y=-349.05+43.39X-1.07X2,the linear correlation coefficient was 0.9979,?X is the solubility parameters,Y is the static contact angle?.The correlation coefficient shows that the solubility parameter of the composite is also related to the change of contact angle.In alkali lignin-ABS non-polar system,alkali lignin/ABS resin was prepared by adding10%,15%,20%,and 25%alkali lignin to the system.The thermodynamic parameters of alkali lignin/ABS resin composites were measured by IGC technique,the value of Vg0 showed no obvious change with the increase of alkali lignin content,the value of?12?firstly increased and then decreased with the alkali lignin content increased,The solubility parameters at room temperature were 17.40,19.20,18.92 and 17.37?J/cm3?0.5,the solubility parameter of the blend was the highest when the content of alkali lignin was about 10%.The tensile strength and thermal stability of alkali lignin/ABS resin composites were the highest when the content of alkali lignin was 10%.When the content of alkali lignin was 10%,the tensile strength of the composites was85.64MPa,which was the highest in all alkali lignin content.The relationship between the solubility parameter??2?of alkali lignin/ABS resin composite film and the tensile strength satisfies the relations:Y=-28.8080+1.1160X-0.0065X2,the linear correlation coefficient was0.9993,?X is the tensile strength,Y is the solubility parameter?.The correlation coefficient shows that the solubility parameters of the composites are related to the mechanical properties of the composites.When the content of alkali lignin was 10%,the thermal decomposition temperature of alkali lignin/ABS resin composite was 419?,which was higher than that of other alkali lignin.The relationship between the solubility parameter??2?of alkali lignin/ABS resin composite film and the weight loss temperatures satisfies the relations:Y=-41.4073+0.4549X-8.4723E-4X2,the linear correlation coefficient was 0.9919,?X is the weight loss temperatures,Y is the solubility parameter?.The correlation coefficient shows that the solubility parameters of the composites are related to the thermal stability of the composites.Lignin based polymer solubility parameters and thermodynamic properties were determined by Hansen solubility parameter method and IGC technology,the consistency of the two methods in determining the solubility parameters of polymer was obtained.And summed up the relationship model between the solubility parameters of alkali lignin and its related thermodynamic properties,provide a quantitative reference for process improvement and modification chemical of the alkali lignin,which has important guiding significance.
