Since the 1860 s,the development of human society has been driven by three industrial revolutions.Great progress has been made in science and technology, productivity has been greatly improved, and the world market has gradually taken shape.Trade between countries in the world has become increasingly frequent. At the same time, the development of science has deepened the exploitation of natural resources, and brought about environmental damage and increased pollution.Over the past 30 years of reform and opening up,China’s economy has developed rapidly. At the same time,China’s extensive economic growth model has resulted in a significant increase in carbon emissions. With the continuous increase in the volume of foreign trade,China will inevitably face enormous pressures of carbon emission reduction and environmental problems. In the face of this situation, the impact of China’s foreign trade on carbon emissions cannot be ignored, and the contradiction between economic development and resource environment need to be solved. In the context of low-carbon trade, reducing carbon emissions is not only an environmental issue, but also a national development issue. Therefore, research on China’s foreign trade model makes it easier to formulate differential environmental trade policies. This article analyzes the research background and sorts out the previous literature first, then reviews the concepts about low-carbon trade, the economic theory related to foreign trade and environment, and elaborates the status of China’s foreign trade and carbon emissions.Through the analysis of the determinants of the trade pattern, the five trade patterns among the regions are summed up,of which four belong to the model that meets the comparative advantage and another belongs to the mode of “anti-comparative advantage”.Then use the input-output model to construct the calculation method of embodied carbon emissions and marginal net trade embodied carbon emissions, and define the quantitative identification method of foreign trade model based on marginal net trade embodied carbon emissions, income level and environmental regulation.By calculating the marginal net embodied carbon emissions and related indicators between China and t he United States, the trade patterns of various industries were obtained. Then the impact on the carbon emissions of the two countries and the world was analyzed. The results of the analysis show that five kinds of foreign trade models have emerged in the China-U.S.foreign trade. The evidence supporting the pollution paradise hypothesis and factor endowment theory coexist in China-U.S.trade;however,since the average GDP and per capita material capital stock of U.S.are always exceeding China, there is no coexistence pattern of “pollution paradise and factor endowments”;the mode of foreign trade of the industry tends to be one,but some industry trade modes also change d;some industry data analysis results show the “anti-comparative advantage” model, namely external trade has a negative impact on the carbon emissions of both China and the United States. In the ten-year sample period, the trade patterns of various industries have significant differences in the carbon emissions of the country, but overall i t is not conducive to global carbon reduction. Therefore,China should strengthen environmental regulation, raise the level of production technology, and actively promote the harmonious development of foreign trade.
