Model updating technique uses experimental data to modify structural finite element model, so we can obtain high-accuracy finite element model to serve for dynamic design, response prediction of engineering structure. The parameter model modification technology which is based on sensitivity analysis is the most mature. For the theory of the technique always can't apply to engineering practice, this paper researches model updating technique for engineering application and software realization, as illustrated by the following:The paper introduces the theoretical method of model updating technique based on sensitivity analysis and studies the realization steps of the technique. Mode of vibration correlation analysis, the method to calculate the sensitivity matrix and error matrix, construction of the sensitivity matrix and the solution of ill-conditioned equation are elaborated.Aiming at the problems existing in the engineering application of the correction technology,through the element commercial software MSC's ability of finite element modeling, structural analysis and sensitivity analysis, the ability of Matlab's mathematical operations, data interaction capabilities between multiple software, graphical interface programming, the model updating software ModelUpdating is developed on the Matlab GUI platform. The software has good generality and operability. It provides a convenient and effective implementation platform for the finite element model updating of complex engineering structures.Through two engineering examples of the Garteur model and anisotropic plate model, verifying the model updating technique based on sensitivity analysis. Through the comparing of the using of different parameters, different amendments of the target to analysis the reliability of the model updating technique, and verify the validity of the model updating software in all kinds of situations.At last, aiming at the engineering problem, using the model correction software, The structural model modification of Electric Multiple Units bogie framework is completed. The frequency and MAC of the modified finite element model and the test model all very well matched, the error of the first seven order frequency of the modified finite element model and the test value is less than 5%. It has achieved good engineering application value.
