With the continuous development of science technology,the application of modern power electronics installation improves the efficiency of industrial production and save costs.But it also brings a lot of harm.For example,a large number of intermediate frequency furnace used in foundry is a kind of nonlinear load,but also a kind of inductive load.In the production process,the existence of intermediate frequency furnace load will cause harmonic pollution and reduce power factor.Therefore,the research of the above problems is helpful to improve the power quality of the power grid and reduce the loss of the enterprise.It has certain guiding significance for practical projects.The paper firstly analyzes the fundamental conception of reactive power compensation and harmonic suppression;include the importance,common ways etc...The paper analyzes the structure and principle of the intermediate frequency furnace,and the reason of harmonic and low power factor is obtained.Secondly,the paper analyzes the method of compensating reactive power and eliminating harmonics for intermediate frequency furnace,put forward a harmonic filtering and compensation scheme which is based on passive filter.Combined with ETAP simulation software,the parameters of the main components of capacitors and reactors are designed to reduce the failure rate after installation.The problem of harmonic amplification caused by resonance between filter and system is avoided.This paper takes a foundry company as an example,combines the concept of reactive power compensation and harmonic suppression with the case and solves the problem.Finally,this paper establish simulation model of the distribution network in the ETAP simulation software and then compare the simulation data and the measured data to prove the rationality of the model of the network.The paper reasonably allocates the parameters of the filtering compensation device and verifies the scheme according to the change of the harmonic voltage distortion rate and harmonic current distortion rate.The harmonic filtering and compensation device has been successfully installed in the low voltage side of transformer,measuring the load data with power quality testing instrument again.The test result verifies the scheme of design method and this method can solve the problem of reactive power and harmonic of the company.This paper summarizes the research content,which provides a reference for improving the power quality of the intermediate frequency furnace load.
