| Humoralism is a kind of medical theory which developed from the ancient Greece.As the standard theory of western medicine,it has an important influence on the development of western medicine.Humoural theory began in Greece in the fifth century BC with the body of work attributed to the physician Hippocrates.It seems to Hippocrates that there are four humours circulating within the human body,and the health depended on the proper proportion and action in the body of the four humours.Humoralism as an important medical theory taken an important place in the history of medicine,at the same time,the philosophy contained in the humoralism could also be an important part of the theory.This study mainly takes the empirical analysis method of history,and also with the help of classical literatures.First,based on the analysis of the time background of humoralism,we will discuss the impact on the philosophical school of Hippocrates’ medical theory in the fifth century BC.On this basis,I will have a discussion about the humoural theory of Hippocrates.On the foundation of the Corpus Hippocraticum,our theory focus on the question of the principle of humoralism.In the times of Hippocrates,the development of medicine closely linked to the philosophy.So in his medical thoughts reflected the philosophy and the trend of the times.Finally,we can see that the contributions of Hippocrates in the history,not only reflected on the medicine an physiology parts,at the same time,he was also an important enlightenment thinker in Pericles times.Humoralism then continued with Galen,the Roman doctor who adopted the Hippocratic doctrine in the second century AD.For over two thousand years thereafter,humoural theory explained most things about a person’ character.It explored the sources of beliefs in the West about the relationship of body an mind,and about the role of humours in binding them together,except the medicine,also had an important influence on philosophy and psychology. |
