Objective: Through the combing of the related diseases of sleep disorders in Synopsis of Prescriptions of the Golden Chamber, summarized Zhang Zhongjing’s academic features of sleep disorder in the treatment based on syndrome differentiation and Herbal Prescription, in order to the differentiation and treatment of sleep disorders with the support of the theory and method of traditional Chinese medicine.Methods: This article adopted literature research methods, summarized the cognizance of sleep disorders of modern medicine and traditional Chinese medicine especially in Inner Canon of Huangdi(Huangdi Nei Jing). It collated and summarizes the related content of sleep disorders in Synopsis of Prescriptions of the Golden Chamber, analyzed the etiology, pathogenesis syndromes, symptoms, treatment and prescription of sleep disorders. And provide an overview of the situation that today’s physicians use Synopsis of Prescriptions of the Golden Chamber treatment of sleep disorders.Conclusion: Through investigating, we find out that Synopsis of Prescriptions of the Golden Chamber is the inheritance and development of sleep theory in Inner Canon of Huangdi, and it more focused on the effect of Zang-fu organs and meridians. Based on the syndrome differentiation of Zang-fu organs and meridians, corrected the function of Zang-fu organs and meridians to achieve the restoration of normal sleep. Therefore, when treating sleep disorders, we should consider the function of Zang-fu organs and meridians, and analysis of the concrete disorders.
