Objective To investigate the correlation between long-term systolic blood pressure variability(SBPV)and short-term SBPV.Methods In our study, data from Kailuan Group employees who attended all 4 physical examinations(taken in June 2006 to October 2007, June 2008 to October 2009, June 2010 to October 2011, June 2012 to October 2013, respectively). A total of 1012 patients who’s age over 60 years old were enrolled in the study, and 752 patients had completion longterm systolic blood pressure and ambulatory blood pressure. Standard deviation represents systolic blood pressure variability. The observation population was divided into three groups according to the tertile of long-term systolic blood pressure variability, the first point(<9.09 mm Hg), the second point(9.09-14.29 mm Hg), the third point(≥14.29 mm Hg).Multivariate liner and logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the correlation between short-term systolic blood pressure variability and long-term systolic blood pressure. Results 1 752 participants with integral data were recruited into the survey. The 752participants’ average age were 67.00 years old(284 women). The 24 hours and daytime SSD are 14.7mm Hg 、 14.7mm Hg 、 15.7mm Hg and 14.1mm Hg 、 14.2mm Hg 、15.4mm Hg(P<0.05) according to the tertile of long-term systolic blood pressure variability, respectively, nighttime SSD are 12.0mm Hg 、 11.8mm Hg 、 11.9mm Hg(P>0.05). 2 The correlation between long-term SSD and 24 h SSD and daytime SSD and nighttime SSD was 0.116(P<0.05) 、 0.145(P<0.05) 、 0.019(P>0.05), respectively. 3 Multiple linear regression analysis showed that after adjusting for confounding influence factors, daytime SSD increased for 1 mm Hg, long-term SSD increased 0.147 mm Hg. 4 Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that after adjusting for confounding factors(adjusted for age, sex, SBP, BMI, LDL-C, HDL-C, TG, hs CRP, drinking, smoking, physical exercise and after taking antihypertensive drugs), the highest tertile of daytime SSD is the influence factor for increasing long-term SSD>11.94 mm Hg, OR value was(OR=1.58, 95%CI :1.07-2.33,P<0.05), but the 24 hours SSD and nighttime SSD were not influence factors for increasing long-term SSD>11.94 mm Hg, OR value was(OR=1.30, 95%CI : 0.89-1.91,P>0.05)、(OR=0.86,95%CI:0.59-1.25,P>0.05), respectively. Conclusion There is a correlation between long-term and daytime SBPV in older population, but not for 24 h SBPV and nighttime SBPV.
