Objective:To observe the effects of local infiltration with ropivacaine on dose of intraoperative anesthetic, muscle relaxation status and intrawound postoperative analgesia after surgery in patients undergoing posterior lumbar interbody fusion(PLIF).Methods:Forty-two patients undergoing PLIF were randomized into two groups( group R and C). Midazolam, cisatracurium besilate, propofol and remifentanil were used to induce and maintain total intravenous anesthesia(TIVA). Patients in group R received 0.375% ropivacaine local infiltration before skin incision and after skin suture. For both groups, we recorded the total amount of propofol and remifentanil, cisatracurium besilate, the satisfaction of surgeon with muscle relaxation status, the amount of bleeding, volume of drainage, visual analog scale(VAS) scores at the time of 24 and 48 hours after operation, the complications and hospital length of stay(LOS).Results: No significant differences were noted in doses of propofol and remifentanil, amount of bleeding, volume of drainage, the VAS scores at the time of 24 and 48 hours after operation, complications and hospital LOS. The total amount of cisatracurium besilate in the ropivacaine group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05). The satisfaction of surgeon with muscle relaxation status in the ropivacaine group was significantly higher than that in the control group respectively(P<0.01).Conclusion: Local infiltration with 0.375% ropivacaine reduces cisatracurium besilate requirements and improves surgeon’s satisfaction in patients undergoing PLIF.
