Objective To summarize the clinical features and laboratory fingdings in neurobrucellosis and raise the level of clinical physicians in the diagnosis of this Disease.Methods A retrospective analysis of 6 cases of neurobrucellosis was carried out.Results 1.Six cases of neurobrucellosis including 4 males and 2 female were reported. The clinical course ranging from 10 days to eight months which 5 was acute brucellosis and 1 was sub-acute brucellosis. 2.Contact with infected animals(4 cases) and meat(1 case) were the main routes of infection. 3.All the patients had fever which was the most common symptom.Other main symptoms included hesdache in 5 patients. 4.Lumbar puncture was done in all patients, increased lumbar puncture cerebrospinal fluid(CSF) pressure was detected in 3 cases. Pleocytosis with lymphocytes predominancy was observed. CSF culture was positive in 3 cases which were brucella melitensis. 5.Brucella blood serum agglutination test were positive in 5 cases. 6.The blood routine were no obvious signs of infection in all patients.Conclusion The clinical features of nuerobrucellosis varies greatly,fever and headache were the main symptoms.Many of the laboratory tests and imaging data were negative and low rate of CSF culture made misdiagnosed.Therefore, early detection,treatment can improve the prognosis.
