Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the feasibility and safety of implantation of mobilizable 125I particle chain coaxial drainage catheter in the treatment of malignant obstructive jaundice(MOJ).Methods: Participants were assigned to receive treatment with mobilizable 125I particle chain coaxial drainage catheter(experimental group)or a conventional PTCD(control group). After implantation, the outcomes were measured in terms of relief of obstructive jaundice,Blood tests, change of tumor volume, survival time, complications related to the procedure.A p value of less than 0.05 indicated a significant difference. Results: Surgery was successfully performed in all patients. After 1 month, the patients of TBIL tests,DBIL tests, relief of obstructive jaundice and change of tumor volume were no statistically significant difference between the two groups(P > 0.05),although significant difference in the Ca199 test existed between the two groups(P < 0.05).The patients with relief of obstructive jaundice at 3and 6 month in the experimental group were 44.1%(15/34)、53.3%(16/30),respectively.While in the control group,19.4%(6/31),7.1%(2/28),respectively,and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P < 0.05).The patients with change of tumor volume at 3and 6 month in the experimental group were 32.4%,46.7%,respectively.While in the control group,12.9%,3.5%,respectively,and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P < 0.05).The median and mean overall survivals in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group(13.79 months versus 1.49 months,10.0 months versus 0.73 months,p< 0.05).The statistically significant difference of incidence of complications between the two groups is not existed(P>0.05).
