ObjectiveTo investigate the relationship between metabolic syndrome(MS)complicated with helicobacter pylori(Hp)infection and carotid intima-media thickness, and to study whether the complication of MS and Hp infection had synergistic effect on carotid intima-media thickness.Explorethe risk factors of carotid atherosclerosis, and provide some evifence for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.MethodsWe carried out our study in the physical examination center of Qilu Hospital of Shandong University during the period from January to December of 2015.The Hpinfection, the change of carotid intima thickness, blood sugar, blood pressure and other related information were collected by medical examination and carotid ultrasonography.Data were analyzed by using STATA 13.0.And then MS and its components complicated with HP infection were examined to demonstrate their synergistic effect on carotid artery plaque formation. Moreover we analyze the relationship between MS complicated with Helicobacter pylori infection and carotid intima-media thickness.Results1.2279 patients were enrolled in this study, including 1439 males and 840 females, aged from20 to80 years old.Ourresults showed that the prevalence of MS and carotid endarterectomy were higher in men than that in women. In addition, the prevalence of MS and the carotid artery plaque formation were also increased with age,and there were statistical difference in carotid artery diseases among different age groups(P<0.005).2.Logistic regression analysis demonstratedthat the prevalenceof carotid artery plaque formation in MS patients was higher than that in non-MS(95%CI:71.4%vs 53.6%),OR=1.50(95%CI:1.10-2.04).There was no statistical difference in the relationship between Hpinfection and the changes of carotid artery intima-media thickness(P>0.05).The prevalence of carotid endometrial plaque formation in MS patients complicated with Hpinfection(73.8%)was higher than that in normal group(53.4%),MS positivegroup(68.2%)and Hp infection positive group(53.7%),OR=1.74(95%CI:1.14-2.67).3.The risk of carotid endometrial plaque formation in the hyperuricemia group was higher than that in the normal group(67.0%vs 54.60%),OR = 1.69(95%CI:1.19-2.3).The riskof carotid artery plaque formation in the hypertensive group was higher than that in the normal group(71.90%vs 44.80%),OR = 1.78(95%CI:1.46-2.18).The risk of carotid artery plaque formation in hyperglycemia group was higher than that in normal group(77.0%vs 52.90%)OR = 1.83(95%CI:1.31-2.57).There was no correlation between other components of metabolic syndrome and carotid intima-media thickness.4.After stratified by gender,we found that there was no statistically significant correlation between hyperuricemia,MS and carotid intima-media lesions in women, and there was no correlation between Hpand MS with carotid artery intima-mediathickness changes.According to gender stratification, whether in male or infemale,Hp with hyperglycemia and carotid intima-media thickness changes were not statistically significant.According to age stratification, the correlation between hyperglycemia and carotid intima-media thickness was not statistically significant inpeople ≤45 and ≥60.Conclusion1.MS may be a risk factor of CIMT diseases. And there was no stastical relationship between Hp infection and CIMT diseases.MS complicated with HP infection will increase the risk of CIMT diseases.2.Hyperuricemia and hypertension may be risk factors of CIMI diseases. The two factors complicated with Hp infection have synergic effect on the carotid artery intima-media thickness.Patients with hypertension and hyperuricemia should be more careful with the risk of carotid artery atherosclerosis.3.There are close relationship between hyperglycemia(and/or diabetes mellitus)and CIMT changes.BMI,TG and HDL-C may not be the risk factors of CIMI diseases.
