| Aim: To assess the association between bone turnover markers(BTMs)(serum OC,b-CTX and ALP),bone mineral density(BMD)and body mass index(BMI),the concentration of Hb A1 c,diabetes duration and hypoglycemic agents in elderly female patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and osteoporosis. Methods: A total of 81 postmenopausal women with type 2 diabetes and osteoporosis were recruited by the Department of endocrinology from January 2014 to December 2015.The level of serum BTMs(OC,b-CTX and ALP)and BMD at lumbar spine and hip sites were measured in all participants. The association between BMD,BTMs and duration of diabetes, the levels of Hb A1 c,BMI and hypoglycemic agent were analyzed retrospectively by using.SPSS22.0.Results:(1)The levels of serum OC and ?-CTX were negatively correlated with BMD at femoral neck and greater trochanter(P<0.05);(2)The level of Hb A1 c was negatively correlated with serum OC and PTH levels.According to the cut off level of Hb A1 c 7%,all participants were divided into two groups: well controlled group and poorly controlled group. The levels of serum OC,b-CTX and PTH were higher in the well controlled group than in the poorly controlled group(P<0.05).Furthermore,the level of serum ALP was lower in the well controlled group than in the poorly controlled group(P<0.05).However,there was no significant differences in BMD at lumbar spine and hip sites between two groups.(3)According to following criteria, all participants were divided into four groups:(1)Vitamin D severely deficiency(25(OH)D <10ng/m L)(2)Vitamin D deficiency(10ng/m L <=25(OH)D<20 ng/m L),(3)Vitamin D insufficiency(20ng/m L <=25(OH)D... |
