Objective To explore the brain functional changes with resting-state f MRI and evaluate the characteristics of emotional memory in patients with alcoholism. Methods Twenty-three male patients with alcoholism and twenty healthy volunteers were involved in this study.Testing-programe was finished with E-prime software.Behavioral data were collected from all subjects using an Lenovo notebook, and the behavioral results were analyzed by single factor analysis of variance(one-way ANOVA)and multiple comparison analysis. Then, all the patients and healthy volunteers received examination of rf MRI on a 3.0T MRI scanner. The standardized f ALLF value and Re Ho value were calculated and the statistical difference were analyzed with two-sample t-test.Results1.The functional decreased brain regions of f ALLF in alcoholism compared with nomal group include the left middle frontal gyrus, left dorsolateral frontal gyrus, left precentral gyrus, left postcentral gyrus, left paracentral lobule, left precuneus, left parietal gyrus and left inferior parietal margin angular gyrus, right supplementary motor area and right frontal gyrus.while functional increased brain regions in alcoholism include the right orbital frontal gyrus, right inferior temporal gyrus and right inferior frontal operculum(all P<0.001).2.The functional decreased brain regions of Re Ho in alcoholism compared with nomal group include the right orbital frontal gyrus, right orbital frontal gyrus, right postcentral gyrus and left medial orbito frontal cortex, while functional increased brain regions in alcoholism include right middle occipital gyrus, right inferior temporal gyrus(all P<0.001).3.Sixteen patients with alcoholism and 19 healthy controls finished the behavior test successfully. It is great higher for fear pictures and happy pictures than the neutral picture. And no significant difference was found between the alcoholism and the healthy control group in the memory effect of happy pictures(P=0.10),then,there was a significant difference between fear pictures, neutral pictures and sad pictures(all P<0.05).Conclusion1.Abnormal changes of resting state brain function in alcoholism patients, mainly involved in executive control, sensory motor and emotional memory related brain areas, which results in the enhancement or weakening of local brain function.2.The emotional memory ability of alcohol dependent patients was decreased, and there were significant differences in the results of emotional memory between different emotional pictures, different emotional pictures have different regulation mechanisms on the enhancement of emotional memory.
