Objective:To understand the growth and development and the concentration of serum trace elements of children with different sexes and age groups based on the theory of children’s growth and development and children’s health management. To analyse the difference of trace elements in different physical growth status and the correlation between growth and development and serum trace element, then explore the relationship between six trace elements and provide basis for clinical and daily life to apply trace elements to promote the growth and development of children, improving their nutrition and health level.Methods:716 children of Zhejiang Province Maternal and child health hospital were randomly selected as subjects from December 2015 to December 2016.The concentration of serum trace elements and physical growth indicators of subjects were obtained through laboratory examination and physical examination. The measurements were standardized by standard deviation method.Useing Independent sample t-test to compare the difference of trace elements and Chi-square test to compare the difference of trace elements abnormal rate in different sex and age groups, utilizing ANOVA to compare the difference of serum trace element concentration of children with different physical growth status;utilizing Pearson correlation analysis to understand the correlation between growth and development and serum trace elements and the association between trace elements;useing stepwise regression analysis to understand the influence of serum trace elements concentration on physical growth.Results:(1)Basic situationAmong the 716 subjects,418(58.3%)were boys and 298(41.7%)were girls. There were 34 cases(4.8%)infants who aged 0~1 years, children aged ~3 years were 138 cases(19.3%),preschool aged ~6.5 years were 191 cases(26.7%),aged ~15 years were 353 cases(49.2%).Among the 716 subjects,47 cases(6.6%)were low serum Zn,46 cases(6.4%)were low serum Fe,75 cases(10.5%)were low serum Ca,3 cases(0.4%)were high serum Pb,1 case(0.1%)was high serum Zn.(2)Comparison of serum trace elements between different sex and age groupsIndependent sample t-test showed the level of Pb and the level of Ca had a difference between girls and boys. There was no significant difference in the abnormal rate of trace elements between male and female(p>0.05).ANOVA showed that Pb,Zn and Fe show an increasing trend with age, while Cu,Ca and Mg are opposite.1~3years group of high iron rates,6~15 years group of lower Zn,lower Ca rate than the other groups.(3)Comparison of trace elements between different growth and development statusANOVA showed that the serum Zn of Height, weight with low level were lower than those in medium level, and lower than those in high level group;the Zn concentration of BMI low level group was higher than that of the other groups;the Fe of height, weight,BMI of children in low level group were lower than those in high, the Fe of BMI of children in low level group was lower than in medium. The Mg of Height, weight,BMI of children in low level group were lower than those in high. The Mg concentration of BMI in low level group was lower than in medium; The concentration of serum Zn and Fe of the bone age delay group were lower than the normal group.(4)Relationship between trace elements and the growth and development of childrenPearson analysis showed the height and weight were positively correlated with the concentration of serum Zn,Fe,Mg,multivariate analysis showed serum Zn had a greater effect on height and weight(p<0.05);BMI was positively correlated with the concentration of Fe and Mg while negatively correlated with Zn;serum Fe had a greater impact on BMI;There was no statistically significant correlation between serum trace elements and bone age(P > 0.05),the Pb,Ca,Mg and Cu had no significant effect on the height, weight and BMI(P>0.05).(5)Correlation between serum trace elementsThere was a negative correlation between serum Cu,Fe and Pb(p<0.05);the concentration of serum Cu,Fe,Ca was positively correlated with Zn,also positively correlated with Mg;Ca was significantly positively correlated Cu,Mg was significantly positively correlated with Zn.Conclusions:(1)The cases of low serum Ca,low Fe,low Zn and high Pb happen among 0~15years old children,of which the largest number is low serum Ca.(2)The serum Pb concentration of boys was higher than that of girls while Ca less than girls;serum Pb,Zn,Fe concentration is increasing with age,Cu,Ca,Mg is the opposite.(3)There is a significantly positive correlation between height、weight and serum Zn,Fe and Mg,and BMI was positively correlated with blood Fe and Mg,while negatively correlated with Zn,there is no statistical significance of the correlation between bone age and serum trace elements.(4)The serum Zn concentration have a greater impact on height and weight, and serum Fe have a greater impact on BMI.(5)There is a complex and close association between the six serum trace elements.
