Background As the rising rate of thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer is currently one of the most common malignant tumors. In clinical work, some solid tumors patients often incidental finding of thyroid nodule in the diagnosis and treatment process, and the malignancy rate of thyroid nodules are high, which should arouse our attention in clinical practice.Partial patients should to be faced a few problems such as concomitant thyroid nodules and other concomitant solid tumors, the differential diagnosis and the optimal treatment strategy is difficult to select. This paper discussed the mentioned problem based on clinical experience of the authors so as to arouse the attention of our colleagues in clinical practice. Objective Investigate the incidence and the malignant rate of thyroid nodules in patients with other concomitant solid tumors. Methods From January 2016 to March 2016 in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University, all the hospitalized patients are collected as the solid tumor group, carried on the thyroid ultrasound and TSH examination, and compared with the healthy crowd of same gender and age in same period, analyzing the relationship between thyroid nodules and solid tumors. The effects of thyroid nodules to other concomitant solid tumors were categorized as follows: No harm,Minimal harm, Moderate harm and Major harm. Results There were 294 cases of patients in the solid tumor group,150 cases were male,144 cases were female age 57.42±11.27 years(26-82)from January 1,2016 to March 31,2016.In same period, there were 280 cases in the contrast group,140 cases were male,140 cases were female age 54.25±10.78 years(28-80).Compared with the control group, the overall incidence of thyroid nodules in the solid tumor group is higher(p<0.05),the incidence of multinodules is higher(p<0.05),most nodules are less than 1cm.The solid tumor group has a high malignant rate of thyroid nodules(23.53%),and the breast cancer is the solid tumor with the most thyroid nodules.Thyroid nodules result in no harm was noted in 104 cases(65.00%),Minimal harm was observed in 46cases(28.75%),moderate harm was found in 6 cases(3.75%)and major harm was found in 4 cases(2.50%).Conclusions The incidence and malignancy rate of thyroid nodules coexisting in solid tumors are both high, which should arouse our attention in clinical practice.A complete examination of the thyroid gland may be of great help to the diagno sis and treatment of the complex tumor(especially the metastatic cancer with un known primary).
