Comparison Of The Efficacy Of I-gel,Laryngeal Mask Airway Supreme And Laryngeal Mask Airway Unique For The Airway Management In Pediatric Patients Undergoing Elective Urological Surgery

ObjectiveLaryngeal mask airway(LMA)used in China is not common,especially in the field of pediatric anesthesia.Furthermore there are many kinds of LMA,the anesthesiologists do not know how to choose them.This study aims to compare the efficacy of I-gel,LMA-Supreme and LMA-Unique for the airway management in pediatric patients undergoing elective urological surgery and provide more reference for clinical application of laryngeal mask and choice in pediatric surgery give recommendations for their use.MethodsA total of 90 children were divided into three groups(n=30)using a randomized number table:I-gel(group I),LMA-Supreme group(group S)and LMA-Unique group(group U).The I-gel,LMA-Supreme and LMA-Unique were respectively placed in group I,group S and group U immediately after anesthesia induction according to manufacturers’ specification.The number of laryngeal mask insertion,laryngeal mask insertion time,insertion success rate,airway leak pressure,flexible videoscope examination,quality of airway during anaesthetic maintenance,ease of gastric tube placement through the I-gel and LMA Supreme and complications were recorded.ResultsOne patient in group U was excluded due to drop out.Both group I and group U had significantly.better fiberoptic views than group S(P<0.05),but no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05).The airway leak pressure was significantly better with group I than with group S and group U(P<0.05),but no with the two groups(P>0.05).The incidence of postoperative sore throat and blood staining were significantly increased in group S than group I and group U(P<0.05).The successful rate of gastric tube placement of group I and group S were 100%and 83%,respectively(P<0.05).ConclusionsThe three kinds of LMA were equally effective for the airway management in pediatric patients undergoing selective urological surgery.I-gel and LMA Unique exerted a performance with better placement and less sore trauma.I-gel provided higher airway leak pressure and good gastric access,can reduce rates of gastric insufflation.
