| Objective Epilepsy is a common chronic disorders of the nervous functions, characterized of long course and recurrent, make patient experience a long time pain, and influence the patient’s social function, resulting in a decline in the quality of life,The caused by social function defect degree and influencing factors of epilepsy study is infrequent now at home and abroad,This study respectively testing epilepsy group and control group use the social function defect screening scale(SDSS),To comprehend the characteristics of the social function disability and its relevant affecting factors in adults with epilepsy. Methods According to the epileptic patients cases and healthy controls and exclusion criteria,Selected 79 adult patients with epilepsy from the first affiliated hospital of anhui medical university,as well as in the 54 controls of healthy volunteers matching the epileptic patients in gender, age, education and work.Difference between two groups were compared use the applicable to our country social function defect between 15 ~ 59 screening scale to evaluate its social function defect degree which was translation and revision by the Shanghai second medical university professor Xu Changlin et al according to the main part of The World Health Organization Short Disability Assessment Schedule(WHO DAS-s),Investigation content includes the demographic and clinical material and the project of SDSS in adults with epilepsy,Differences between two group were compared and the affecting factors of social function defect were analyzed through multiple stepwise regression analysis with statistical significance set at P<0.05.Results(1)The score of adults with epilepsy in global executive composite(GEC)of SDSS(3.13±2.81)is significantly higher than that of the control group(0.96±1.03 分)(P<0.05).The score of adults with epilepsy of SDSS in Marriage function, social withdrawal, social activities outside of family, family functions, personal care, interest and concern to the outside world, the sense of responsibility and planning(respectively 0.55±0.66、0.59±0.59、0.51±0.62、0.22±0.47、0.15±0.43、0.66±0.60、0.27±0.50)were significantly higher in adults with epilepsy than those in control group(respectively 0.18±0.39、0.19±0.39、0.15±0.36、0.06±0.23、0、0.24±0.43、0.02±0.14)with statistical significance(P < 0.05).(2)Pearson’s correlation test showed that in the single factor analysis the course of the disease, seizure attack frequency and seizure types were positively correlated to SDSS scores, and education background, job, age at onset negatively correlated to SDSS scores.Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed the work, the types of attack and attack frequency were significantly correlated to SDSS scores(all P< 0.05).Conclusions 1,Adults with epilepsy exist social function disability, and mainly exist in Marriage function, social withdrawal, social activities outside of family, family functions, personal care, interest and concern to the outside world, the sense of responsibility and planning compare with control group.2,The course of the disease, seizure attack frequency, seizure types, education background, job, age at onset may be correlated to SDSS scores.Gender, age, marital status, the number of antiepileptic drugs, the results of head CT/MRI may be not factors that influenced social function.3,The sex, marital status may not be the significant effect on each item of SDSS,while the work may significantly correlated to SDSS in Parents function, social withdrawal, social activities outside of family, decreased activity in the family, family functions, interest and concern to the outside world, the sense of responsibility and planning.4,The work, frequency of attack, attack type may be significant affect the SDSS in adults with epilepsy,to which more attention should be paid. |
