The Correlation Analysis Between The Magnitude Of The Tongue Measured By Color Doppler Ultrasound And The Obstructive Sleep Apnea Hypopnea Syndrome

Objective:Use color Doppler ultrasound to measure the magnitude of the tongue and explore the correlation between the magnitude of the tongue and the obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome.Methods: This study was selected randomly from WanNan Medical College yijishan hospital to meet the requirements and diagnosed by PSG in 102 OSAHS patients as the experimental group,no snoring healthy people as a control group of 66 cases.The general data were recorded or measured in the two groups: age,sex,height,weight,BMI,waist circumference,abdominal circumference;use color Doppler ultrasound to measure the related data ahout the tongue size in supine sniffing position at the median sagittal plane of the tongue,inclouding the maximum thickness of the tongue,the four thickness of the tongue(front,front in the 1/3,after 1/3,the trailing edge),maximum soft tissue thickness of the front tongue,base of tongue length,tongue back length,aera and perimeter of the tongue which shows by the median sagittal plane,the separation distance between the thickest and trailing edge of the tongue,genioglossus distance(distance between the jaw and hyoid).All data were analyzed by SPSS20.0 statistical analysis software.Results: The normal group and experimental group about BMI,neck circumference,waist circumference and abdominal circumference had significant difference(P<0.01),age had no significant difference;the maximum thickness of the tongue,anteriorthickness of the tongue,the thickness of 1/3 point in the anterior tongue,thickness of the trailing edge of the tongue,tongue back length,tongue area,tongue perimeter,maximum soft tissue thickness of the front tongue,the separation distance between the thickest and trailing edge of the tongue,all above nine data had statistical sense,among them besides tongue back length shows P<0.05,other eight data shows P<0.01.But genioglossus distance,the thickness of posterior 1/3 point tongue,base of tongue length had no statistical sense.The general data of the experimental group,such as BMI,neck circumference,waist circumference,abdominal circumference,the maximum thickness of the tongueg,anterior thickness of the tongue,the thickness of 1/3 point in the anterior ton ue,tongue perimeter,maximum soft tissue thickness of the front tongue,the separation distance between the thickest and trailing edge of the tongue,were positively correlated with AHI,P<0.01;tongue area was correlated with AHI,P<0.05.Thickness of the trailing edge of the tongue and tongue back length had no significant correlation with AHI,P>0.05.BMI,neck circumference,waist circumference and abdominal circumference,the maximum thickness of the tongue,anterior thickness of the tongue,the thickness of 1/3 point in the anterior tongue,tongue back length,tongue perimeter,maximum soft tissue thickness of the front tongue,the separation distance between the thickest and trailing edge of the tongue,were negative correlated with LSa O2,P<0.01;tonge area was negative correlated with LSa O2,P<0.05;Thickness of the trailing edge of the tongue had nosignificant correlation with LSaO2,P>0.05.Conclusion:1.The magnitude of the tongue is closely related to the onset of OSAHS;2.The maximum thickness of the tongue,anterior thickness of the tongue,the thickness of 1/3 point in the anterior tongue,tongue area,tongue perimeter,maximum soft tissue thickness of the tongue,the separation distance between the thickest and trailing edge of the tongue,which measured by Color Doppler ultrasound,had correlation with OSAHS.So the result can be as the objective index to predict OSAHSpatients obout retroglossal airway obstruction.
