Objective:To investigate the current status of stoma acceptance of permanent colostomy patients,to analyze the influence factors of stoma acceptance,to explore the relationship between stoma acceptance and cognitive emotion regulation strategies, and finally to provide a theoretical reference for the promotion of stoma acceptance.Methods:128 permanent colostomy patients ware selected by convenience sampling from3 third-grade class-A general hospitals in NanChang during the period from May to December 2016.All patients were investigated by general information questionnaire,The Acceptance of Stoma Scale, and Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire(CERQ).Results:1.The mean total score of stoma acceptance was 78.37±10.66.The percentage of patients with low level of stoma acceptance was 10.94%,moderate level was81.25%,and high level was 7.81%.The mean score of contain dimension was21.20±3.97,transforming dimension was 21.89±3.56,enlarging dimension was24.65±3.32,and subordinating dimension was 10.62±1.67.Difference of acceptance score between different cultural degree, work status, family income, colostomy time, degree of colostomy care and with or without complications was statistically significant(P<0.05).2.The mean score of cognitive emotion regulation strategies ranged from high to low was: acceptance(13.81±1.74),catastrophizing(13.33±2.32),rumination(12.46±2.01),refocus on planing(11.98±2.54),putting into perspective(11.45±3.19),positive refocusing(11.23±3.32),positive reappraisal(11.04±3.34),self blame(10.89±2.29),blaming others(8.25±2.93).3.Stoma acceptance and all dimensions of permanent colostomy patients were positively correlated with positive cognitive emotion regulation strategies(P<0.05),and negatively correlated with negative emotion regulation strategies(P<0.05).4.Multiple linear regression analysis showed that catastrophizing, putting into perspective, postoperative stoma time, acceptance, cultural degree, and family income were important factors affecting stoma acceptance, which could explain 57% of variation of stoma acceptance.Conclusions:1.The stoma acceptance of permanent colostomy patients was in the moderate level. The mean score of enlarging dimension was the highest, and subordinating dimension was the lowest. The affecting factors of stoma acceptance of permanent colostomy patients were cultural degree, work status, family income, colostomy time, degree of colostomy care, and stoma complications.2.Patients tended to use acceptance, catastrophizing, and putting into perspective when dealing with permanent colostomy.Generally speaking, patients’ emotion regulation strategies was negative.3.Stoma acceptance of permanent colostomy patients was positively correlated with positive emotion regulation strategies, and negatively correlated with negative emotion regulation strategies. The results indicated that the higher the frequency of using positive cognitive emotion regulation strategies was,the higher the degree of stoma acceptance was.The higher the frequency of using negative cognitive emotion regulation strategies was,the lower the level of acceptance was.4.Catastrophizing,putting into perspective, and acceptance were important predictors of stoma acceptance.
