Purpose:This study focuses on the efficacy evaluation of Jian Pi Xiao Ke on type2 diabetes mellitus patients with subclinical atherosclerosis and the effects of the expression on P38 MAPK in rats of diabetic atherosclerosis from theories, clinical observation and experiment.Approaches:Clinical observation:There are 60 examples who have type 2 diabetic patients with subclinical atherosclerosis, interpretation of the cause are spleen asthenia and Stagnation of phlegm and blood stasis. They are divided randomly in two groups, one is control group(metformin group)and one is treatment group(Chinese medicine group),30 cases in each group. We need to evaluate the improved situation of two groups comparied with pre-treatmend on clinical symptoms and signs, symptoms integral, blood glucose, blood lipid, carotid artery the intima-media thickness and plaque score index.Experimental study: By intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin(STZ)and high glucose fat diet,we could establish a Wistar rat model of diabetic atherosclerosis. The study observes the influence of the jianpixiaoke on the model rats from several aspacts:wight, blood glucose and blood lipid. The immunohistochemical method was used to detect the expression of P38 MAPK in thoracic aorta. Results: Jian Pi Xiao Ke can significantly improve the clinical symptoms and signs, symptoms integral, blood glucose and blood lipid of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with subclinical atherosclerosis. It also can inhibit the expression of P38 MAPK in arterial intima and delay the increase of plaque thickness. Conclusion: Jian Pi Xiao Ke can delay effectively the process of subclinical atherosclerosis. The mechanism may be related to the inhibition of the expression of P38 MAPK in the intima.
