Partl Diagnostic value of endoscopic ultrasonography in gastrointestinal submucosal tumorsObjective:Evaluate the value of endoscopic ulatrasonography in diagnosing gastrointestinal submucosal tumors. Methods:Retrospectively analyze the patients with gastrointestinal submucosal tumors from Jul.2007 to Nov.2015 at Weihai Municipal Hospital who were examined by EUS and had obtained the pathological diagnosis. Analyze the diagnostic accuracy rates of EUS by contrast EUS diagnosis with pathological diagnosis. Results:A total of 183 cases were included, with 108 female (59.02%), 75 male (40.98%), aged 26-78 years, the mean age: 53.5±11.6 years. This study included 86 gastrointestinal stromal tumors, 63 leiomyomas, 14 lipoma and 20 carcinoid tumors which were initially diagnosed by EUS. But when pathologically confirmed after operation there were 36 gastrointestinal stromal tumors, 93 leiomyomas, 11 lipoma, 20 carcinoid tumors, 3 schwannomas, 2 granular cell tumors, one leiomyosarcoma and so on. Contrast EUS diagnosis with pathological diagnosis, the accuracy rates of submucosal tumor was 67.21%.Conclusions:EUS is effective means for diagnosing submucosal tumor, but it still needs to combine with CT and/or other examination techniques.Part2 The diagnostic value of endoscopic ultrasonography in gastrointestinal cancerObjective:To evaluate the reliability of endoscopic ultrasonography in assessing the depth of tumor infiltration and separating early gastrointestinal cancer from advanced ones. Methods:Retrospectively analyze the patients with gastrointestinal cancers from Jul.2007 to Nov.2015 at Weihai Municipal Hospital who were examined by EUS and had obtained the pathological diagnosis, which were resected by endoscopy and/or Surgery. Evaluate the reliability of EUS by contrast EUS diagnosis with pathological diagnosis.Results:72 patients were included in the study, with 13(18.06%) females, and 59 (81.94%) males, aged 26-82 years, mean age: 60.1±10.9years. This study included 47 early gastrointestinal cancer and 25 advanced cancer initially diagnosed by EUS. But when pathologically confirmed after operation there were 46 early gastrointestinal cancer and 26 advanced cancer. The accuracy rate in diagnosis of early gastrointestinal cancer was 84.72% (61/72). The sensitivity of EUS in diagnosing early gastrointestinal cancer were 89.13% (41/46), the specificity was 76.92%(20/26), the positive predictive value was 87.23% (41/47), and negative predictive value was 80% (20/25).Conclusions:EUS is effective means for diagnosing early gastrointestinal cancer, but it still needs to combine with CT and/or other examination techniques.
