ObjectiveTo measure and compare mesiodistal tooth width and the head and cervical posture of unilateral cleft of lip and palate(UCLP)patients among different GOSLON Yardstick scores.Methods46 UCLP and 15 Non-cleft ClassⅠpatients were selected from the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University in recent five years. The 46 UCLP were selected as experimental group and the 15 Non-cleft ClassⅠpatients were selected as control group. All the dental plaster models and lateral cephalometric radiographs of all the patients were collected.GOSLON Yardstic system was used to evaluate all the dental plaster models of UCLP patients in experimental group.46 UCLP models were divided into 3 groups: 18 in Group A(4GOSLON rating of 1 and 2),18 in Group B(GOSLON rating of 3)and 10 in Group C(GOSLON rating of 4 and 5).15 Non-cleft Class I patients were control group(Group D).All the dental plaster models and lateral cephalometric radiographs were measured. The dental plaster model measurements included the mesiodistal width of maxillary central incisor, canine, first premolar and first molar in both cleft and non-cleft sides of the experimental groups, and the mesiodistal width of the same maxillary teeth in both left and right sides of control group. The lateral cephalometric measurements included, the angulations between cervical vertebrae plane and SN plane(SN-CP),cervical vertebrae tangent and SN plane(SN-CVT),odontoid tangent plane and SN plane(SN-OPT),and cervical vertebrae tangent and odontoid tangent plane(CVT-OPT)both in experimental group and control group. The SPSS22.0 statistical analysis software was used to make model and cephalometric analysis. In model analysis, the Paired t Test was used to compare the mesiodistal width of maxillary central incisor, canine, first premolar and first molar in both cleft and non-cleft sides of the experimental group and in both left and right sides of the control group. The Independent t Test were used to compare the mesiodistal width of maxillary central incisor, canine, first premolar and first molar in cleft and non-cleft of experimental group separately with the average mesiodistal width of the same teeth in control group.ANOVA followed by LSD-t tests were used to make intergroup comparison ofmesiodistal tooth width among all the four groups. In cephalometric analysis, the Independent t Test was used to compare the difference of head and cervical spine posture between the experimental group and control group.ANOVA followed by LSD-t tests was used to make intergroup comparison of the head and cervical spine posture difference among all the four groups.ResultsModel analysis results: the mesiodistal width of maxillary central incisor, canine and first molar in cleft and non-cleft side of experimental group had a significant statistical difference(p<0.05),but the mesiodistal width of the same maxillary teeth in left side and right side of control group had no significant statistical difference.Compared with the control group, mesiodistal width of maxillary canine in the non-cleft side and the maxillary central insisors and first molars in cleft side of experimental group were smaller, and there were all statistical significance(p<0.05).ANOVA among four groups showed significant statistical difference in mesiodistal width of maxillary canine in non-cleft side and the maxillary first molar in cleft side(p<0.05).The followed LSD-t test showed, compared with Group D,the mesiodistal width of maxillary molar in cleft side of Group A and Group B was smaller, and the mesiodistal width of maxillary canine in non-cleft side of Group B and Group C was smaller, and there were all statistical significance(p<0.05).The cephalometric analysis results: compared with the control group, the angulations of SN-CP、SN-OPT、SN-CVT were bigger, but the angulations of OPT-CVT was smaller, and there were all statistical significance(p<0.05).ANOVA among four groups found significant statistical difference in the angulation of SN-CP(p<0.05),and the followed LSD-t test showed, compared with Group D,the angulation of SN-CP in Group A,Group B and Group C were bigger, and there were all statistical significance(p<0.05)separately.However,ANOVA among four groups showed no significant statistical difference in the angulation of SN-OPT、SN-CVT and OPT-CVT.Conclusions1.Among UCLP patients, the mesiodistal width of maxillary central incisor and first molar in cleft side is smaller, and the mesiodistal width of maxillary canine in cleft side is bigger.2.Among UCLP patients, the mesiodistal width of maxillary central incisor and first molar in cleft side, and the mesiodistal width of canine in non-cleft side is smaller.3.There are statistical difference in the mesiodistal width of maxillary first molar in cleft side and the maxillary canine in non-cleft side among different GOSLON Yardstic rating groups.4.The head posture of UCLP patients is more extended, and the upper cervical curvature is smaller.5.There were no statistical difference in the head and cervical spine posture among different GOSLON Yardstic rating groups.
