In this paper,on the basis of the paradigm of traditional P300 brain-computer interface system,we added an active mental task.In the first experiment,the active mental task experiment was to distinguish the color,while the design of the comparative experiment was counts.In order to further validate the active mental task paradigm that can improve the performance of brain-computer interface system,we designed the second experiments;the active mental task was to count and to distinguish the color,while the design of the comparative experiment was counts.The results of the two experiments showed that the active mental task paradigm can induce more obvious event related potential P300 and the accuracy of character recognition was higher than that of the character recognition in the comparative paradigm.It also showed that the increase of a task,although increased the difficulty,but it still improved the attention of the subjects and it can improve the performance of the brain-computer interface system.Combined with the above theory,we designed and implemented a brain-computer interface online character speller based on the active mental task,which provided the conditions for the application of the brain-computer interface system in daily life.
