Objective: To evaluate the accuracy of the ConView electrical state of consciousness in monitoring the depth of sedation induced by propofol compared with bispectral index(BIS).Methods: Thirty ASA physical status I or II patients of both sexes,aged41~64 yr,with body mass index 18~28 kg/m2,scheduled for elective surgeries under general anesthesia,were enrolled in the study.No patients received premedication.After the patients entered the operating room,the median cubital vein pathway was established,compound sodium chloride was infused to maintain the fluid path unobstructed.The ECG,HR,SpO2,MAP were monitored.The electrode of BIS and AI were placed,and the skin resistance was less than 5 k? and the Signal Quality Index(SQI)greater than 90.Propofol was given by target-controlled infusion(TCI)with the initial target effect-site concentration(Ce)of 1.2 ?g/ml using Marsh pharmacokinetic model,and then the Ce of propofol was increased by 0.3?g/ml,and OAA / S was performed.Before TCI of propofol,the values of OAA/S score is 5.During TCI of propofol,the value of OAA/S score can reach to 4,3,2 and 1 in turn.When it occured,record the value of BIS,the value of AI and the Ce of propofol.The parameters for vital signs were maintained within the normal range.The correlation between BIS,AI and Ce of propofol and OAA/S score was performed using Spearman rank correlation analysis.Linear correlation analysis was performed to evaluate the relationship between BIS,AI and Ce of propofol.U test was used to analyze the correlation coefficients.Results:The correlation coefficients of BIS,AI and Ce of propofol with the OAA/S scores were rBIS-OAA/S=0.962,rAI-OAA/S=0.960 and rCe-OAA/S=?0.795,respectively(P<0.05).The correlation coefficients of BIS and AI with the Ce of propofol were rBIS-Ce=?0.736?rAI-Ce=?0.737(P<0.05).There was no significant difference between rBIS-OAA / S,rAI-OAA / S and rAI-ce(P>0.05).Conclusions : In adult patients with non-noxious stimuli who were induced by propofol,AI can monitor the depth of sedation correctly,and there are no significant differences compared with BIS.
