Objective: Epidemiologic studies reported hair dye as a risk factor of many cancers.Previous studies on the association between personal use of hair dye and the risk of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma(NHL)have been inconclusive, therefore we performed a meta-analysis to investigate the the effect of hair dye on risk of NHL.Background: Epidemiologic studies reported hair dye as a risk factor of many cancers.Previous studies on the association between personal use of hair dye and the risk of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma(NHL)have been inconclusive, therefore we performed a meta-analysis to investigate the the effect of hair dye on risk of NHL.Methods: To evaluate the association between hair dye and Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma,We searched the PubMed,Elsevier,China National Knowledge Infrastructure and Wanfang database and references of included studies up to February10 th,2015 for relevant studies. After two authors independently assessed the methodological quality and extracted data.Odds ratios(ORs)with 95% confidence intervals(CIs))were applied to assess the strength of association.Publication bias was evaluated by funnel plot, using Egger's and Begg's tests.Among the studies identified, the meta-analysis included three cohort studies and thirteen case-control studies. Results: Finally 16 articles were included in the analysis, including 13 casecontrol studies, three cohort studies. Our meta analysis showed that the risk of nonHodgkin's lymphoma,an increased population of hair dye use 14%(OR = 1.14 95%CI 1.01-1.29).there were not much difference between case-control study OR = 1.12(95%CI 0.99-1.26)and cohort studies. In a subgroup analysis, our results demonstrated that the association was stronger in individuals who the risk of nonHodgkin's lymphoma,ever-hair dye use had increased risks of developing NHL if they were living in Asian, female in gender. Moreover, individuals who used hair dye for more than 20 pack-years had increased NHL risk. Conclusion: Our outcomes show that hair dye use will enable non-Hodgkin lymphoma increased risk, especially on the use of time women use groups and, additionally used more frequently or use a longer number of years because people care to minimize exposure to hair dye products. But still we need to study the non-Hodgkin lymphoma subtypes for further assessment of hazards of hair dye use.
