Study On Willingness And Its Influencing Factors Of Cord Blood In Newborns Of Pregnant Women In Shandong Province

BackgroundUmbilical cord blood is rich in hematopoietic stem cells,which has achieved good results in the treatment of malignant blood diseases and other fields.With the development of umbilical cord blood research,a number of umbilical cord blood banks have established in the world,including China.But the number of umbilical cord blood collected in Shandong Province is only 1.41%of the number of newborns in 2016,a large number of precious umbilical cord blood was discarded.Therefore,this study investigated the willingness and influencing factors of collecting umbilical cord blood in pregnant women in Shandong province.ObjectivesIn this study we choose several representative districts to investigate the cognitive situation of blood diseases,cord blood,cord blood banking of pregnant women in Shandong Province,and analyzed their willingness to collect cord blood,and then explored the influencing factors of umbilical cord blood collection intention.MethodsIn this study,2000 pregnant women were randomly sampled from six hospitals in three districts of Shandong province.1856 valid questionnaires were obtained.Epidata3.1 was used to establish the database and SPSS21.0 was used for data analysis.The factors influencing the collection of umbilical cord blood were mainly analyzed by single factor analysis and multivariate analysis using chi-square test and Logistic regression model.ResultsThe survey showed that the willingness rate of collecting cord blood was 46.2%.The pregnant women know little about blood disease and cord blood and there are many questions and misunderstandings of the collection and preservation of cord blood,and they are more sensitive about the prices of private storage of cord blood.Binary logistic regression analysis of multivariate analysis found that the following factors will promote the willingness of collecting cord blood:non-first-born pregnant women whose first child’s health level is ordinary,pregnant women taking folic acid in advance,with a family history of blood disease,knowing cord blood can be combined with transplantation or in vitro expansion,knowing the publicity of cord blood bank is effective,choosing to preserve cord blood for the first child.Suggestion1)We should strengthen the science advocacy of pregnant women on blood diseases and cord blood,adding the knowledge they concerns purposefully in the publicity and training,lifting their concerns about cord blood;2)To Improve medical taff’s enthusiasm of publicity and promotion of cord blood will be an effective means to promote pregnant women’s willingness of cord blood collection;3)Umbilical blood bank should take measures to respond to unfair competition propaganda,and effectively protect the interests of the depositors.The Government should strengthen the supervision of cord blood bank service,increase the investment to the public cord blood bank,adjust the storage price of private cord blood and regulate the marketing of stem cells,so that more people can storage cord blood confidentially.
