| Objective:Panic disorder is a class of mental disorders that are common and have a high prevalence in the general population.Clinical symptoms mainly manifested as palpitations,tremors,sweating,shortness of breath,chest pain,suuffocation,dizziness,nausea,dying and so on.The panic disorder has had a tremendous impact on the patient’s life.Patients repeated treatment in the major general hospital of cardiology and respiratory department,but not effective treatment-Panic disorder not only affecting the patient’s quality of life and social function,but also leading to a great burden of living and financial.At present,the major hospitals on the treatment of patients with panic disorder mainly in drug therapy,and rarely psychological treatment and drug combination,and foreign research often use this combination of treatment methods.Therefore,this study attempts to further explore the effectiveness of group balancing psychotherapy(GBPT)combined with drug therapy in the treatment of anxiety traits,anxiety,depression,panic disorder,panic-related symptoms,and heart rate variability in patients with panic disorder to prove the effectiveness of GBPT through clinical practice.Methods:Patients with panic disorder were recruited from the Psychology Department of Zhongda Hospital affiliated to Southeast University,WeChat advertisements and advertisements’ exhibitions arranged in the outpatient department and inpatient department.The patients were divided into group therapy group and control group.15 in the group therapy group and 1 dropped out after 8 weeks.15 in the control group and no one dropped out after 8 weeks.Subjects in the therapy group were received GBPT in addition to psychiatric treatment of drugs.The intervention was implemented for 60-90 minutes every week for 8 weeks.Patients in control group were only given psychiatric treatment of drugs.The Trait Anxiety Inventory(TAI)in State-Trait Anxiety Inventory(STAI),Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7(GAD-7),Patient Health Questionnaire-9(PHQ-9),Panic Disorder Severity Scale(PDSS),Panic-Associated Symptom Scale(PASS)and Heart Rate Variability(HRV)were used to evaluate the effectiveness of GBPT.Results:There was a significant difference between the research group and the control group in GAD-7 scores after 8 weeks(t=-6.07,P<0.001),and there was a significant decrease in GAD-7 scores in comparison with baseline and after 8 weeks of the research group(F= 50.56,P<0.001),and there was a significant decrease in scores of GAD-7 in comparison with baseline and after 8 weeks of the control group(t=9.84,P<0.001),and there was a significant difference between the research group and control group in the subtraction scores of GAD-7(t=-5.43,P<0.001);There was a significant difference between the research group and the control group in PHQ-9 scores after 8 weeks(t=-9.03,P<0.001),and there was a significant decrease in scores of PHQ-9 in comparison with baseline and after 8 weeks of the research group(F= 36.57,P<0.001),and there was a significant decrease in scores of PHQ-9 in comparison with baseline and after 8 weeks of the control group(t=16.95,P<0.001),and there was a significant difference between the research group and control group in the subtraction scores of PHQ-9(t=-3.59,P<0.01);There was a significant difference between the research group and the control group in PDSS scores after 8 weeks(t=-7.37,P<0.001),and there was a significant decrease in scores of PDSS in comparison with baseline and after 8 weeks of the research group(F=86.46,P<0.001),and there was a significant decrease in scores of PDSS in comparison with baseline and after 8 weeks of the control group(t=13.09,P<0.001),and there was a significant difference between the research group and control group in the subtraction scores of PDSS(t=-4.50,P<0.001);There was a significant difference between the research group and the control group in PASS scores after 8 weeks(t=-12.29,P<0.001),and there was a significant decrease in scores of PASS in comparison with baseline and after 8 weeks of the research group(F=271.03,P<0.001),and there was a significant decrease in scores of PASS in comparison with baseline and after 8 weeks of the control group(t=12.68,P<0.001),and there was a significant difference between the research group and control group in the subtraction scores of PASS(t=-6.99,P<0.001);There was no significant difference in HRV between the group and the control group(P>0.05).Conclusions:Group balancing psychotherapy can significantly improve the anxiety and depression,panic severity and related symptoms in patients with panic disorder. |
