The Effect Of Hezhuhuashi Tea On The Blood Glucose And Pancreas Islet Function Indicators Among Impaired Glucose Regulation Patients Of Phlegm-dampness Constitution

Objective:According to TCM constitution,improving and correcting biased constitution are able to prevent the progression from IGR to DM.Based on the TCM constitution theory of physique being recuperable,this project investigated the effects of herbal tea therapy(Heshuhuashi tea)on indicators of blood glucose,pancreas islet function and constitution integrals by intervening IGR patients of phlegm-dampness constitution,in order to provide evidence for further promotion of herbal tea therapy.Methods: IGR patients with inclusion criteria at out-patient department in Kaifeng hospital of TCM were recruited in this open trial.By TCM constitution identification and sugar tolerance screening result,a total of 63 IGR patients with phlegm-dampness constitution were confirmed for collection.Selected subjects were divided into observation group(32 cases)and control group(31 cases)for one course of intervention(3 months).Control group received diabetes education,diet control and active lifestyle,and observation group took additional Hezhuhuashi tea for one course.Via the changes in phlegm-dampness constitution integral,statistical analysis was conducted on FPG,PPG,HOMA-IR,HOMA-β,HbA1 C,blood lipids,BMI and WC before and after herbal tea therapy,and therapeutic evaluation was implemented at the same time.Results:(1)No difference in general observation information(gender,age,disease course)was found(p>0.05);(2)Statistical significance in TCM constitution integral before and after intervention was found between observation group and control group(p<0.05);(3)Statistical significances in FPG and PPG were found between observation group and control group(p<0.05);(4)Statistical significance in HbA1 c before and after intervention was found between observation group and control group(p<0.05);(5)Statistical significance in HOMA-IR before and after intervention was found between observation group and control group(p<0.05),and observation group had superior result;no statistical significance in HOMA-β before and after intervention was found between observation group and control group(p>0.05);(6)Statistical significance in TC,TG,HDL-C,LDL-C before and after intervention was found between observation group and control group(p<0.05);(7)Statistical significance in BMI and WC before and after intervention was found betweenobservation group and control group(p<0.05);Conclusion: After one treatment course(3 months),Heshuhuashi tea reduced the FPG,PPG,HbA1 c,BMI,WC,alleviated lipid metabolism disorder,and improved constitution integral,and the difference was statistically significant(p<0.05);statistical significance was found in improving insulin resistance(p<0.05),and no statistical significance was found in improving pancreatic β-cell function(p>0.05).Safety index indicated no obvious toxic and side effect.
