ObjectiveThrough five days’ therapy of the Giant Acupuncture combined with Cervical traction toward acute phasepatients of Cervical Spondylotic Radiculopathy,By observe the effect of this kind of treatment on the symptoms, signs and the serum level in Interleukin(IL)-6 of these patients. In order to provide an economical, simple and effective treatment for patients with acute period of Cervical Spondylotic Radiculopathy.Methods72 objects were recruited according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. They were randomly divided into treatment group and control group of 36 cases, using the statistics software named SPSS20.0.The control group was treated with the Cervical traction therapy, twenty minutes each time, one times a day, five days is a course of treatment. For the treatment group, which received the therapy of the Giant Acupuncture on Linggu and Dabai points on the basis of the control group, twenty minutes each time, one times a day, five days is a course of treatment.Respectively observing before treatment and after five days of treatment observation of changes in the values of the two groups patients with the Shortform of McGill pain Questionnaire, and clinical evaluation of cervical spondylosis, and the serum level in Interleukin-6.So as to evaluate the clinical effect of the Giant Acupuncture with Cervical traction therapy toward acute phase patients of Cervical Spondylotic Radiculopathy.Results1.Baseline comparisonThere was no statistically difference in the age, gender, duration data and weight between the two groups before intervention(P>0.05);During this study,1 subject was detached from the experimental group and 2 subjects were absent from the control group,There was no statistical difference between the two groups in shedding cases(P>0.05).There was also no statistically difference in the the Shortform of McGill pain Questionnaire scores, clinical evaluation of cervical spondylosis scores and serum level in Interleukin-6 between the two groups before intervention(P>0.05).2.Evaluation of the Short-form of McGill pain QuestionnaireAfter treatment, the sensory and emotional scores of the total the Short-form of McGill pain Questionnaire score and pain rating index, visual analogue scale scores and present pain intensity scores are significantly lower than those before treatment(P<0.05).The scores of the above observed items in the treatment group are significantly lower than those in the control group, and the difference between the two groups is statistically significant(P<0.05).3.Evaluation of clinical evaluation of cervical spondylosisAfter treatment, the neck pain, shoulder and back pain, upper limb pain, upper limb numbness, neck and shoulder tenderness, cervical movement, intervertebral foramen extrusion test and total scores are all decreased with statistical difference in the two groups(P<0.05).There is no significant difference in the scores of sensory disturbance, muscle strength and tendon reflex after treatment in the two groups(P>0.05).In the treatment group, neck pain, shoulder and back pain, upper limb pain and total scores are significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05),while other items of changes have no significant difference(P>0.05).4.The serum level in Interleukin-6After treatment, the serum level in Interleukin-6 in this both groups is lower than that before treatment, which is exists statistical differences(P<0.05).The serum Interleukin-6 level in the test group is significantly lower than that in the control group, and there exists statistical differences(P<0.05).5.Comparison of clinical effectsAfter treatment, the treatment group:0 have been cured,5 had notable curative effect,28 have been efficient,2 has been being in vain, and the total effective rate is 94.29%;And for the control group:0 have been cured,0 had notable curative effect,25 have been efficient,9 have been being in vain, and the total effective rate is 73.53%.By statistical analysis of the 2 groups, there exists statistical differences(P<0.05).Conclusions1.The treatment of the Giant Acupuncture combined with Cervical traction can relieve pain of patients with Cervical Spondylotic Radiculopathy at the acute period.2.The treatment of the Giant Acupuncture combined with Cervical traction can improve the pain in the neck, shoulder and back of the patients with Cervical Spondylotic Radiculopathy at the acute period. And it can also relieve upper limb numbness, increase the ROM of the neck and overall alleviate the patient’s symptoms and signs.3.The treatment of the Giant Acupuncture combined with Cervical traction can reduce the level of cytokine Interleukin-6,the effect of treatment may be related to the reduction of cytokine Interleukin-6 and the inflammatory reaction of nerve root.
