Objective:Initially using an electronic vernier caliper to measure the mandibular first molar index,inferred the Uyghur gender in Xinjiang,and obtained the relationship between the mandibular first molar crown index and the gender inference,and established gender inference equations.It provides a theoretical basis for gender inference of Xinjiang Uyghurs.Methods:According to the strict inclusion and exclusion criteria,225(male:111,female:114)gypsum models of Xinjiang Uyghur students were selected.The bucco-lingual,mesio-distal,mesiobuccal-distolingual,and distobuccal-mesiolingual crown diameters of the mandibular first molar were measured according to the method of Hillson et al.SPSS23.0 was used for data analysis.Results:The diameter index of male teeth in mandibular first molar was larger than that of females(P<0.05).The diameter index of the first mandibular molar in the left and right was not statistically significant in the same gender(P>0.05).The conclusion is that the equation for inferring gender on the left is:25.091-1.143×MD-1.105x BL-0.385×MB-DL+0.177xDB-ML.The critical value of Roc curve is 0.866;using the right side to infer gender The equation is:276-1.446 ×MD-0.276 ×BL-0.378 x MB-DL-0.728×DB-ML,and the critical value of Roc curve is 0.911.The accuracy of the left inferential equation of the first permanent molars was respectively 75.45%(male)and 75.89%(female).The accuracy of the right mandible first molar inferential equation was 74.54%.(male)and 79.46%(female).Conclusion:This study shows that applying the mandibular first permanent molar crown index to sex inferring Xinjiang Uygur is a simple and reliable method,and can be used as a complementary method for dental forensics.
