| Geographical position has a critical influence on the political situation of ancientsociety. It is a stage for space development and military action. It is a restriction forthe match between political and military strength. It is a major factor for influencingscale and mole of operations. From ancient times, national political and militaryoperation has a close tie with its geographical position. What’s more, the positionplays an important role in effecting national benefits and losses.In the continuously division times of Northern and Southern Dynasties, the twoparts of military battle exists a long-term special area, which stands in the frontier ofnorth and south area or east and west area. In the academic circle, they call this kindof area as intermediate region. As intermediate region, it has outstanding geographicaladvantages and strategically competitive edge. For instance, at the end of the HanDynasty in the period of the Three Kingdoms, Jingzhou area which was famous for itsspecial geographical position was located in the intermediate region where militarymatch was rampant. Furthermore, Jingzhou had a very critically strategically positionin the warlords times, especially in the division period of Caocao, Liubei, andSunquan who divided the world to three parts. And both the gain or loss of this areaweights much on the survival of Wu,Wei and Shu powers. Among the three powers,there were many conflicts appeared centering on Jingzhou. The development of thisarea prompted the mode of tripartite confrontation, and leaded to the unity of West Jinat last. All of these achievements had a significant influence on Chinese historyprogress.The thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter introduces the presentsituation in Jingzhou as selected topic. The second chapter introduces thegeographical position in Jingzhou and the situation of in the end years of East Han.The emphasis is put on the management of Jingzhou by Liubao. The third chaptertells about the strategically plan in Wu and Shu. The fourth chapter discusses thefight for Jingzhou area among Wei,Shu, and Wu powers after the Battle of the RedCliffs and the progress of the establishment of tripartite confrontation. Among which, the main points is the fight between Wu and Shu and their relationship. The fifthchapter mainly tells several large scale fights for Jingzhou between Caowei and EastWu, and the progress of West Jin occupied Jingzhou and finally united the wholenation. |
