Tourism text is one of the practical texts with strong purposes and functions. It plays an important role in attracting tourists and promoting the development of tourism. The translation of tourism text is obviously very important because it shoulders the mission of promoting intercultural communication. Functionalist translation approach breaks the bond of equivalence translation, especially the Skopos theory as the core of it provides strong guidance and opens a new perspective for the translation of tourism text. Based on the translation of the book Walking Amsterdam, this thesis will firstly give readers a brief introduction of the Skopos theory and its role in guiding tourism translation, and introduce the characteristics of the selected book and the difficulties in the process of translation. Then under the guidance of the three rules of Skopos theory:Skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule, the author talks about the translation techniques including linear translation, division, converting, transliteration and the amplification of culture-loaded information and so on, by analyzing the examples from the selected books. In this way, the author wants to explore the proper translation techniques for tourism text, and fully achieve the function and purpose of tourism text. Finally, it concludes the deficiencies of the translation and the inspiration brought by this translation.
