Family is the first place where a person receives education. Home education plays an irreplaceable role in one's growth. Studies have shown that 0-3 years old is the most important period of development. And in this period, the education people received is limited and single,which mainly is home education. So in this period, appropriate home education is particularly important. Montessori early home education follows children' characters and has been appreciated by many parents and educators around the world. In recent years, Montessori education has become more and more popular in China, and thus it is of great significance to learn Montessori early home education.There are many books introducing Montessori education in Chinese literature. But there are few books introducing Montessori early home education systematically in Chinese literature.Besides, Montessori education is a professional system, many books introducing Montessori teaching approach are not suitable for common readers. Thus, it has practical implications to translate and introduce related literature. The writer chose the book Montessori from the Start:The Child at Home, from Birth to Age Three which describes various aspects of early(from birth to age three) Montessori home education in simple language.In this report, the writer presents her translation process of Chapter 3 and Chapter 9 of Montessori from the Start: The Child at Home, from Birth to Age Three. The report starts with an introduction of Montessori early home education, the status quo of early home education in China, and the significance of Montessori early home education; then describes the translation process in details, including preparations before translation, quality control, and translation tools and techniques; and under the guidance of the theory of functional equivalence, the writer analyzes the translation techniques used from lexical and phrasal levels, syntactic level and semantic level on the basis of case analyses. Finally, the report is concluded with a summary.The report provides a good chance of practicing translation for the writer, who hopes her translation can call more attention on early home education, and help more readers learn about Montessori early home education.
