A Report On The Simulated Interpreting For A Warm Debate On Yu’ebao On Chinese Finance In Lang Xianping’s Eyes

The “skopostheory” is co-presented by Hans Vermeer, Reiss K. and other German functional linguistic theorists in 1980 s. The theory holds that translation is a kind of trans-cultural communications, and the purpose of translation action determines the process of translation activities, this is the so called “the end justifies the means”. In other words, the translation purposes must guide the translation strategies, and the translation strategies must serve the means and guarantees of translation purposes.The “Skopostheory” informs us that when we undertake interpreting practices, only by combining these translation methods and tactics together, con the interpreters and translators overcome the cultural obstacles between the SL(Source Language) and TL(Target language). Both the “Skopostheory” that is cofounded by Hans Vermeer and K.Reiss, and the “Reiss textual theory” of her own can prove the functionality and purposiveness of interpreting and translation activities. This report aims to bridge the cultural and thinking gap of SL users and TL speakers, so that the translation activity can offer the audience the expressive and faithful service.This report script is on a title of A Warm Debate on Yu’EBao, which excerpts from one episode of a commentary program, named China’s Finance in Lang Xianping’s Eyes. The program is co-presented by Wang Mudi and three of the renowned economists and commentators, they are Lang Xianping, Wang Fuzhong and Niu Wenxin. They launched a warm debate on the controversial existing financial structure and the born-to-boom network financial product, Yu’EBao. They also argued about the difficulties and obstacles what Yu’EBao has encountered. The sharp and comprehensive language style together with the heated topic had stirred up a great disturbance on the internet and people’s daily life. With respect to its great social influence, the previous episodes have come off the press already. To our regret, all of the publications have no English version. This gives author the inspiration to select the material and undertake such a simulated interpreting on the related topic.In view of the existing theories and interpreting cases of the world-renowned interpreters and translators, I filed and finished this report on the simulating interpretation for A warm debate on Yu’EBao. The funny recomposed quotation of the host and the overwhelming statements of each spokesperson, together with the fierce debate of the highlight topic had cast a glorious visual and sound feast to the audiences. Based on the source video information, I each give them the corresponding analysis from different aspects. Such as the financial terms, proverbs and idioms, number information and the conversion of linguistic information. Meantime, I also make a reasonable evaluation on the feasibility and influence of this interpreting task. I sincere hope the translation practice could offer the foreigners and interpreting fans some reference and advice in China’s financial and economic frontier and interpreting undertaking.
