“Jiangnan trilogy” consisting of “Face Peach Blossom”, “Dreaming of Mountains and Rivers” and “The Spring as Jiangnan” is Gefei’s important concerned works after the transformation in the new period. It spans nearly hundred years of Chinese history, focusing on the historical changes of the individual, shaped Lu Xiumi, Tan Gongda and Tan Duanwu “marginal man”images. They pursue the Utopia on the road, completed the self-salvation. The spiritual feature of “marginal man” conveys the writer Gefei ‘s theme of calling for a return to the spirit of Utopia and the individual consciousness. The internal and external writing form and text content further strengthen the overall aesthetic implication of the novel.The article is divided into four parts. The introduction starting from the research status of “Jiangnan Trilogy” points out the writing direction and possibility significance of this artic, and makes a brief discussion on the Gefei transition after the writing to explain the consistent purpose of Gefei’s writing. The first chapter is divided into three sections, respectively analysising the “marginal man” image characteristics in trilogy. Gefei’s “marginal man” destiny closely related to the nature of the utopian ideal. They release the desire in the form of dream,suffer from faith and emotion entanglement,and finally stand on the edge becoming a rational scrutiny. Finally three different image constitute the “marginal man” gradient of human history. The second chapter explain the utopian spirit and individual consciousness from the perspective of the novel theme implications. Specifically analysis the author’s writing purpose of calling for the utopian spirit and individual sense from the social reality, the mission of literature and the author’s writing attitude. The third chapter interpret the novel’s aesthetic implication respectively from the internal level and the external level. The inner plane include “marginal man” image of literary significance and writing position and attitude. The external dimensions are analyzed from narrative forms of a variety of fiction language and multiple narrative perspective. Both of them formed a dynamic narrative structure of the novel.The combination of internal and external level formed a novel dynamic narrative structure.
