| This project report is based on translation of District Energy in Cities Unlocking the Potential of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, an official report published in May 2015 on the official website of UNEP. The author chooses to translate Chapter 1-Exploring the Transition to Modern District Energy Systems. This official report was written by experts in the field of district energy,which introduces the technology, difficulties and potential of district energy. Guided by the Skopos theory, the author adopted some translation methods including conversion, amplification and omission, syntax-repositioning components and division and combination. This translation project consists of four Chapters. In the first chapter presents the introduction to the background, importance and structure of this project. The second part discusses the source text, including its style, content and language characteristics. The third part touches upon the preparation and difficulties in translation, with some examples illustrated. In the fourth part, the author summarizes the fore-mentioned difficulties and solves them in the guidance of Skopos theory and some translation skills. The fifth part is summary. |
