With the implementation of the "going global" cultural strategy and the growing cultural exchanges among countries, the international communication of the traditional culture with Chinese characteristics has achieved fruitful results. In the process of enhancing China’s soft power, the outstanding cultures of the minority nationalities have played a very important role; especially the Manchu culture which is a valuable treasure that history left us. The dissemination of the Manchu culture can make it further inherit in the mutual exchange and be sublimated in development. The original text of this translation project is excerpted from Chapter Two to Chapter Four of the book Manchu. In this report, the author analyzes specific cases in the process of translation, and discusses translation methods of folk customs of the minorities. Manchu is a good book for promoting the knowledge of Manchu culture and carrying forward its outstanding culture. There are a lot of culture-loaded words with distinctive ethnic characteristics. In the process of translation, the author follows the guidance of cultural translation theory proposed by Susan Bassnett and strives to accurately reproduce the meaning, manner and style of the original text from a cultural perspective.Through analyzing the cases in the translation process, the author explores the translating methods and techniques of culture-loaded words in folk customs of the minorities on the basis of previous studies. Based on the purpose of better disseminating the excellent Manchu culture, the author employs transliteration, transliteration and annotation, literal translation and annotation, free translation and other translation methods in order to achieve a desired effect of cultural transmission. In the translation process, the author realizes that a translator not only transfers one language into another one, but also should reproduce the source language culture in another language environment to achieve real cultural transmission. Promoting thesplendid cultures of China’s minorities is still a long way to go. Translators should play a bridging role to make these cultures go global.
