Research On Cultural Connotation Of Vietnamese Wine Idioms And Songs

As early as in the primitive society, the wine has been invented and put into use. Wine is closely related to human life, which is widely applied to daily diet, performance of sacrifice, marriage and hospitality, medicine and health preservation and other fields. Vietnamese also have a long history in using wine and they have recorded dribs and drabs of wine in the language during that process. Language is a mirror to reflect the social landscape, and also a window to understand the national culture. The Vietnamese idioms and songs are the summary of life experience and wisdom of their people. This paper takes the Vietnamese wine idioms and songs as the research object. First of all, it summarizes the characteristics of the Vietnamese wine idioms and songs. Through the analysis, it obtains that idioms and songs are intermixed, and coexisted in Vietnamese and Chinese, and have different forms and versions. Secondly, by adopting the theories and methods of cultural linguistics, the paper focuses on analyzing and interpreting the cultural connotation imbedded in the Vietnamese wine idioms and songs mainly from the three aspects of material culture, institutional culture and mental culture. The cultural connotation of Vietnamese wine idioms and songs involves in Vietnamese food, love between men and women, marriage, female, conjugal relation, Confucian culture, as well as functions and hazards of wine, through which the daily life, customs, ideologies, principles of doing things as well as national characteristics of Vietnamese people could be reflected. Based on the analysis and interpretation on Vietnamese wine idioms and songs, the paper aims to help readers understand the Vietnamese wine culture and its relevant Vietnamese culture.
