Sleep quality has become harmful on physical and mental health of adolescent. In recent years, researchers have begun to focus on the sleep quality impact on adolescent emotional experience. However, there are a few studies to examine the mechanism of the sleep quality on adolescent emotional experience. The present study intends to explore the impact of sleep quality on adolescent emotional experience from the perspective of emotion regulation strategies.In the first research, participants included 857 adolescent aged from 14 to 20 years. Measures consisted of the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index Scale, Positive and Negative Affect Scale and Adolescent Self-Rating Life Events Check List. Results indicated that adolescent sleep quality was a significant positively related with the positive emotional experience, and was a significant negatively related with the negative emotional experience. After controlling for demographic variables and life events variables and found that the sleep quality for adolescent emotional experiences have prediction effect.In the second research, we selected 456 adolescent aged from 13 to 20 years as our participants, using Emotion Regulation Scale, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index Scale and Positive and Negative Affect Scale to discussion the relationship between the frequency of adolescent emotion regulation strategies(cognitive reappraisal and expression suppression), emotional experiences(positive emotional experience and negative emotion experience) and sleep quality. Results indicated that the adolescent positive emotional experience was not only positively related with reappraisal frequency, but also positively related with the sleep quality. The adolescent negative emotional experience was not only negatively correlated with reappraisal frequency, but also negatively correlated with the sleep quality. Additionally, reappraisal frequency and sleep quality had a positive relationship. Most importantly, the present study observed that cognitive reappraisal not only mediated the relationship between sleep quality and positive emotional experience, but also mediated the relationship between sleep quality and negative emotional experience.The results demonstrated that sleep quality can predict adolescent emotional experience,cognitive reappraisal strategy mediated the relationship between sleep quality and adolescent emotional experience.
