Since the “Cultural Turn” of western translation studies in the 1970 s, more and more scholars have begun to pay attention to translator's subjectivity and devoted themselves to studying this area. Translator's subjectivity provides a new perspective for translation studies.Brave New World is one of the most influential science fictions in the twentieth century. Huxley produces an imaginative story by employing scientific facts and theories. The first translation version was issued in 1969 with the title of Mei Li Xin Shi Jie, translated by Li Li and Xue Renwang. Sun Fali's version “Mei Miao De Xin Shi Jie” was published by Yilin in 2000.Based on the theory of translators' subjectivity, this thesis selects Li Li's version and Sun Fali's version as the research subject, and attempts to analyze the manifestation of translator's subjectivity in the process of selection of the source text, understanding of the source text, decision of diction and application of translation strategies and points out the importance of translators' subjectivity and two Chinese versions' translation styles from exemplification and comparison. The thesis is divided into six parts. The first chapter is the introduction part about research background, research approach and research significance. The second chapter is literature review and it clearly states the previous studies and relevant works in this field. The third part specifically concentrates on the study of translator's subjectivity in literal translation and illustrates major factors influencing the display of translator's subjectivity. The fourth part intends to introduce the source text and two translators. The fifth part analyzes the manifestation of translator's subjectivity in the translation of Brave New World in details. And the last chapter summarizes the whole idea and discusses the preview contents. The purpose of the thesis is to render clear the function of the translator's subjectivity in translation and to enable a translator to balance all the constraints in order to come up with better translations.
