Study On Drawing As A Method By The Manuscripts Of Leonardo

As the core concept of the Renaissance——disegno can be summed up into three points. First, disegno is the source of three arts, Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture. Second, it is also some kind of rational cognition, a general judgement to acquire,a form or an idea about all over the nature, and a spiritual of represented characters and objects. Third, it is not only some rational cognition or forms and ideas, but something depended on materials and technique,only by these can it be represented perfectly. At one side, disegno marks the breakdown of the art concept before the Renaissance. At the other side, it lays the foundation for the formation of the fine art concept as well.In the framework of disegno, drawing in the Renaissance was an important way of thinking and methodology of an artist. It became a working path in which artists did the research, organized their thoughts, expressed the ideas, and be the attitude of their viewing the world and the corresponding world outlook. By the studies of some manuscripts of Leonardo da Vinci,I try to find, as the framework, the concept of disegno which playing a role at the back. Take the drawing as a clue, I want to rediscuss the connotation of disegno, and the significance in art creation today, and reflect the teaching of drawing nowadays.
