| Cui Yin, as one of the early leaders of the literary world in Eastern Han Dynasty,had written many works in a variety of themes. In his existing works, it could be seen that he was very knowledgeable, and he had an elegant personality. He was a Confucian intellectual in conventional sense. However, many scholars have not got enough focus as well as systematic and comprehensive study on his works. In this paper there is a thorough study on Cui’s works, which analyses his works, exploring the features and the causes.The introduction mainly explains the significance, the train of thought and methods of this study on Cui’s works, and makes a brief introduction about his works as well as his family, including the research status on Cui’s creation, which is the basis and methods of the following research.The first chapter represents Cui‘s lifetime and the literary creation of his family,the overview on Cui’s works, and the social and political changes of the early Eastern Han Dynasty. It makes a brief research about Cui’s lifetime after consulting historical records and modern study about Cui. In the literary creation of his family, it analyzes the literary creation of Cui’s predecessors of his family. It discusses the changes of the intellectuals ethos in the background of social and political changes,which causing the changes of literary styles, thus influencing Cui’s creation himself.The second chapter tells the analysis of the works of Cui and his family members.It discusses in the literary forms of fu, song, ming, zhen, jian, lun, comparing the literary creation of the works of different scholars like Ban Gu, Fu Yi in the same period, concluding that the similarities and differences of their creative styles. This chapter is the focus of this paper.The third chapter tells the influences of Cui’s literature. It discusses the influences of Cui’s literature on his descendants in his family as well as the descendants. After analyzing historical materials, we can see that Cui’s literary creation had influenced his descendants a lot. This part focuses on the analysis of theliterary achievements of Cui Yuan and Cui Shi. It also objectively and systematically gives the briefly analysis of the reasons why Cui’s works had always been under appreciated.The conclusion summarizes the view of point, drawing a few understandings:Cui was one of the aristocratic family. His family education had a great influence on his own life development and his literary creation. The ideological and political changes of early Eastern Han Dynasty also made his literary works with a gentleman.The ideas in Cui‘s literary creation is similar with his contemporary scholars, like "To sing the praises" and "To improve the morality”. Cui Yin’s works had a far-reaching influences on Cui’s descendants. However, the literary creation of Cui’s descendants was not first class. Due to his albums lost and works incomplete during the long history, the influences of Cui’s works had been reducing gradually. |
