The Study On The Relationship Between Mother-in-law And Daughter-in-law From The Family Ethic Perspective

The relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law is widely exist in the majority of family and be not easy to handle,which is one of the most special relationship in family relationships.And the harmonious relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law is the indispensable for the harmony of family.It is self-evident that as the cell of the society,family's harmony has relation to the harmony of society directly.In this sense,the harmony of relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law is a serious issue.The harmony of relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law needs moral support.Thus,from the perspective of ethics,solving the problem of the relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law is very necessary.The mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship has been existed since the human society was structured by families as the basic union.The balance of the power between the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law is getting equally today since the feudal society,which the mother-in-law used to hold the advantage.The social transformation,changes of family composition,rising of the women's social status and the impact of the multi-culture value increased the complication of the in-law conflict.Mother-in-law and daughter-in-law's conflict of identification,conflict of interest,role dislocation,and emotional indifference are all related to ethical relationship.Such situation gives the urgent demand of the new model of the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law ethical relationship.The discussion of ethical relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law will be put in a bigger picture of the consideration of social transformation.First,I will summarize the characteristics of the old ethical relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law in the feudal society by formulating the traditional relation based on the filial duty,which the mother-in-law possess the supremacy.In this model of the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law ethical relationship,mother-in-law is much stronger than daughter-in-law in the power composition.Then,it will descript the characteristics of the new ethical relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law today that is getting balanced.I will analyze the basic reasons,primary reasons and external reasons by comparing the characteristic of old and new relationships,to summarize the primary conflicts in the new relationship,and find out the elements that could impact these conflicts in the new relationship.In the final passage,I would like to use the essence of the filial duty culture and female conduct culture to adjust the conflicts in new the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law ethical relationship through three aspects: Society,Family and Personality for adjustment of the conflicts and the harmonious of the families.
