The Rearch Of Romatic Novel In Meiyu Magazine That Issued In The Early Republic Of China

“Meiyu” that issued in the early Republic of China is a very unique literary magazine. It is a monthly magazine that founded in Shanghai in November 1914 and shut down in March 1916, issuing 18 totally. It was edited by Gao Jianhua and assisted by Xu Xiaotian. “MeiYu” is a typical female literary magazine, it’s editor, writer and reader are basically women. The works published in “MeiYu” are mainly based on the love story, the proportion is more than the “Saturday” and other mainstream Fiction Magazine. But so far, the special research on “Meiyu” magazine especially the romantic novels is almost a blank, the research results are very few. So this paper plans to do research about “Meiyu” and it’s romantic novels on the basis of previous studies. It starts with the romantic works of the main female writers, analyzing the ideological content, characters and art forms of the works, to explore the reflection of the times and the changes of female writers.The introduction part introduces the research status of modern romantic novels, journals and the “Meiyu”, and briefly analyzes the significance and methods of, researching the romantic novels in “Meiyu” magazine. This paper is divided into five parts: the first chapter gives a summary of the establishment and dealing about “Meiyu”, analyzing the two aspect mainly from the establishment background and the reason of shutting down about the “Meiyu”, it’s editor and author; The second chapter analyzes the characteristics and the colum “Meiyu”, to analysis the purpose of its nature and the unique operating skills through it’s main content and characteristics of each column; The third chapter analyzes the content of thought and subject matter about romantic novels in “Meiyu”; The fourth chapter mainly analyzes the female image of the romantic novels in “Meiyu”, starting with two major categoriesthe, traditional female images in the male discourse and the new image of women consciousness germinating, and briefly analyzes the changes in the image behind the times and the author’s; The fifth chapter discusses the artistic features of “Meiyu”, analyzing it’s two aspects, performance and causes, and it has a unique artistic expression, the “poetic novel”, embodies in narrative point of view, writing techniques and narrative structure, the paper also briefly introduces the causes of its formation.This paper considers the emergence of new characters and “poetic novel” characteristics, to a certain extent, reflecting the emancipation of women writers’ own thoughts, which has important role in promoting the development of literature and society. Although they did not have a clear shout out about anti feudal slogan, also did not show people the way of life development, but they use a unique way of expressing their own voice and expression of the traditional ethics of the rebellion, which is the budding of self consciousness and has contributed to the liberation of women. It laid the necessary foundation for the thorough anti feudalism of “five four” literature. So we can’t ignore it’s value and significance.
