As the main topic of language research, lexical meaning research has been done for a long time. Scholars have conducted detailed analyses and discussion on it from different angles, and achieved fruitful results. Different methods and approaches result in different understandings on lexical meanings. Static meaning research regards meaning as single static one. Due to the limitations of the methods and the theory itself, these studies, when dealing with the phenomenon, will be tramped into trouble. With the emergence of a dynamic point of view, the study of the meaning experienced a turning point. Dynamic lexical meaning researchers believe that the word itself has no real meaning; discourse itself makes no real meaning, either. Meaning lies in the construe that the hearer shows to the current discourse, which is called contextual interpretation of the current situation, and it is in built during the online discourse.Among the motion verbs, go bears the third highest frequency after say and get.The use of high frequency often brings semantic diversity. However, most studies of the verb go in the past tended to be static study, even blindly biased static study. The main research is in the traditional grammar and semantics, studying go’s static meaning, meaning relationships, sentence meaning and meaning in discourse analysis. The article analyzes the generation and construal of go from a dynamic view. It has both theoretical significance and practical significance. First of all, this study enriches the linguistic theory. As a relatively new research perspective, the dynamic meaning construal research has strong explanatory power to lexical meanings from a cognitive perspective. What’s more, it has an important role in guiding the learners to understand and master the vocabulary and helping teachers’ teaching quality.Furthermore, the verb go is the most common English verbs that English learners must master it. The research for go is of great effect for us to learn English and study English in the future. Therefore, with the contribution of Oxford corpus, this paper discusses the dynamic process of the generation and construal of go. Firstly, the author tries to construe the similarities and differences of meanings generated as spatial motions andabstract motions clearly and vividly, because the verb go contains cognitive factors of motion itself. Langacker’s view of motions is used in this part. In this part, the author points out that the abstract motions are the extension of spatial motions. Thus, a variety of go’s meanings are generated. Then, the author attempts to put the verb go,an isolate single words into a large discourse or under the context using Langacker’s view of context. It points out that in actual use of language, the generation and construal of go’s meanings are the results of the combination of the systemic context, situational context and syntagmatic context. Based the discussion of Langacker’s contextual view, this paper puts forward the subject-object interconnection pattern, namely, the coordinate of dynamic lexical meaning construal to give a summery to the dynamic process of lexical meaning.; Finally, this paper explores the dynamic generation mechanism and generation path of the polysemy, go. It tries to find the motivation behind. It concludes that metaphor theory plays an important role in the generation process of polysemy. This paper draws the following conclusions: Firstly, about the generation mechanism of go’s meanings. The author finds that concrete meanings and abstract meanings are gained by the behaviors of spatial motion and abstract motion. The scope of the physical and spatial categories can be extended to abstract categories, namely the projection from the spatial domain to the abstract domain. Langacker’s view of spatial motion and abstract motion is significant for exploring the inherent cognitive mechanisms in the specific motion. This schema of motion path is clearly presented. During the generating process, metaphor and metonymy mechanism play an important role in the generation of meaning; secondly, about the construal of go’s meanings. Systemic context, situational context and syntagmatic context generate and construe semantics together. The context in discourse and encyclopedic knowledge are very important in the dynamic construal of meaning; this paper puts forward the subject-object interconnection pattern, namely, the coordinate of dynamic lexical meaning construal to give a summery to the dynamic process of lexical meaning. The author points out that the derivation of meanings is the result of subject-object interaction as well as the fruits of human cognitive thinking. This model is bothcomplementary for Langacker’s contextual views, but also a challenge to its contextual views; thirdly, whether it is the contextual or motion view of meanings, they both have proved the process of generating and construal of meaning is dynamic rather than static. Although the study of go’s dynamic generation and construal process is just one example, it can be extended to all terms of research and study. That is to say, this study has universal significance.
