| Since the founding of New China, there have occurred lots of changes and creations on types of dancing. Chinese contemporary dance comes in the spotlight for that its style presses close to life and the masses,and it opens up new areas of art with new expression techniques and unique charming style. In the category of the group dance in Chinese contemporary dance, the narrative dance is the carrier of this paper, while the group dance, with solo dance,dance for two people and even pas de trios in dance drama plays only one part of the work but not the whole, and can only be treated as the “combustion supporting device” for setting off atmosphere,so it is not included in the scope of this paper. The signification of this paper is to choose the subject matter of dance creation as the visual angle, extending the time limit, and to investigate and deeply explore the original intention of dance creation and the nature of dance.By learning from the professional books and materials, searching and retrieving the relevant papers, journals or databases, and collecting data on line, we find out that there is abundant information about dance creation and analysis of competitions, but there’s few about the subject or theme of dance and among the existing papers, most of them focus on the analysis of realistic themes. Through empirical research and comparative study, this paper makes observation and recording on the existing works and studies on the sorted materials, so as to explain the relationship between the qualitative change an each independent variable.This paper focuses on the “theme” of dance creation as the axis,to analyze the development pattern of the creation of the group dance in Chinese contemporary dance, including three chapters and the conclusion section. The first chapter mainly clarifies the nature, cause of production and naming process of contemporary dance, and the evolutionfrom its embryonic form to maturity. The second chapter describes what is group dance of the Chinese contemporary dance and its creating characteristics. The third chapter analyzes and discusses changes on the choice of subject matter of the group dance in Chinese contemporary dance,in order for obtaining the law of artistic creation according to the phasal study. Finally, the conclusion makes a brief future prospect on the creation of the group dance in Chinese contemporary dance. It is unique for this paper to explore group dance in the contemporary dance as the research point, and this paper collects information about relevant works and summarizes the characteristics of group dance in choosing subjects of dance creation. It also screens and analyzes the choice of subject matters in pertinence. Besides, in the aspect of study scope, this paper studies the powerful award-winning works as well as works with no awards,in order to explore the changes and developments of group dance in contemporary dance on the choice of subject matters. |
